Education theory has undergone changes in the past generation, enforcing more teachers’ role in the classroom because the circumstance around us has differed from the last decades. However, our society doesn’t recognize how much teachers’ role is important yet. Teachers can not only give knowledge to students, but also affect students’ behavior and thought because students spend most of their time with their friends and teachers at school. Therefore, the characteristics of a good teacher needs to be emphasized from forward such as ability to give knowledge and skills, ability to relate well with students and a bent for being a teacher.
The first characteristic which a good teacher should have is good ability to give students knowledge and skills needed after graduation. Teachers who are able to equip their students with knowledge will have a much greater impact on their future success in both their further studies and employment. For example, the teacher who influenced my sister the most was her math teacher in middle school.
