일제강점기 재조일본인 엘리트들의 요업활동 본질과 조선통치론 (The Essence of Ceramics Activities of the Japanese Elite during the Japanese Colonial Period and the Theory of Joseon Rule)

초록

본 논고는 일제강점기 조선으로 진출한 각계각층 일본인들의 요업활동을 정치성과 결부시키고, 이에 관련된 인물들이 표출시킨 활동의 주된 흐름이 조선총독부의 정책으로 이루어졌음을 밝히는 데 초점 맞춰졌다. 특히 선두에서 요업활동을 지휘했던 인물들은 대체로 식민지사관을 의도적으로 활용, 주도했던 엘리트들이라는 사실에 주목하였다.
이들의 정치성이 당대 요업에 미친 영향은 거시적으로는 조선의 경제적, 물질적 착취에 기반을 두었지만 도자교육, 도자인식, 도자창작 등에까지 그 영향력을 행사하여 문화적 함의를 주도했다. 이른바 이 시기 증폭되었던 요업계의 현상들은 일본을 통해 수용된 산업도자, 창작도예를 대변한다. 그러나 재조일본인들이 주체가 되어 수용된 이 같은 요업 설계는 진부한 전승도자의 재현(再現)이라는 명목을 내세워 올바른 계승과 보존을 침해하였다. 한편으로는 도자유물을 주도면밀하게 유출시켜 각종 문화사업이 발현된 점 역시 정치적 함의가 내포된 주요 맥락으로 해석된다.
무엇보다 이들 집단은 일제의 공업정책과 문화정책을 철저히 반영하며 각기 조화로운 체제를 구축하며 요업활동을 전개하였다. 이 과정은 무단통치에서 문화통치로 전환하는 강점 전반기와 1930년대부터 해방까지의 강점 후반기로 구분되어 뚜렷한 활약상을 드러내었다. 특히 30년대를 거치는 동안 총독부 관료와 정재계 인사들이 요업계로 대거 투입되면서 조선 요업의 대 공업화와 도자예술의 식민화가 가속된 바 있다.
따라서 일제강점기 조선통치에 따른 재조일본인 요업활동의 본질은 조선의 인적, 물적 자원의 수탈을 통해 안정적 착취를 성공적으로 이끌어내고, 나아가 본국의 이윤창출과 한국도자의 맥락을 단절, 변용시킨 점에서 찾을 수 있다.

영어초록

This article was focused on linking the ceramics activities of Japanese people from all walks of life who advanced into Joseon during the Japanese colonial rule with politics, and to reveal that the main flow of activities expressed by the related figures was made by the policies of the Joseon Government-General In particular, he paid attention to the fact that the figures who led the ceramics activities at the forefront were generally elites who intentionally instilled colonial officers.
The influence of their politics on the contemporary ceramic industry was largely based on the economic and material exploitation of Joseon, but they exerted their influence on ceramic education, ceramic awareness, and ceramic creation, leading cultural implications. The so-called phenomena of the ceramic industry amplified during this period represent industrial ceramics and creative ceramics accepted through Japan. However, the design of ceramics, which was accepted as the main body of the Japanese Settler, infringed on the proper transmission and preservation of the traditional ceramics by proposing the means of traditional ceramics. On the one hand, the fact that various cultural projects emerged by leading and careful leakage of ceramic relics is also interpreted as a major context with political implications.
Above all, these groups thoroughly reflected the industrial and cultural policies of Japanese imperialism, established a harmonious system, and developed ceramics activities. This process is the strength of the transition from unauthorized rule to cultural rule in the first half and from the 1930s to liberation. It was divided into the second half and showed a clear performance. In particular, through the 30s, a large number of government officials and business officials were introduced into the ceramic industry, accelerating the industrialization of Joseon ceramics and the colonization of ceramic art.
Therefore, the essence of Japanese ceramics activities under the rule of Joseon during the Japanese colonial rule was found in that it successfully led to stable exploitation through the exploitation of Joseon's human and material resources, furthermore, it can be found in that it cuts and transforms the context of Korean ceramics and the creation of profits in the home country.
