탈식민지 시기(1945~1950) 삼팔선 표상의 지정학적 상상력 －해방 후 이태준 소설을 중심으로 (Geopolitical Imagination in the 38－Parallel Symbol in Post－Colonial Period(1945~1950) －Centering on Lee Tae－jun’s Novels after Liberation)

초록

해방 이후 이태준의 문학은 식민지 시기 문학과의 ‘연속과 비연속’의 겹눈의 독법(讀法)으로 고찰할 필요가 있다. 해방 이후의 이태준은 식민지 시기 문학이 지니고 있었던 제국적 정체성을 민족적 정체성으로 단선화했다. 신체제기의 국책이었던 과학 이데올로기를 발화한 작품에서 결말의 개작을 통해 민족주의의 서사로 변모한 <사상의 월야>, 식민지 시기 작품인 <聖母>의 서사 모형을 바탕으로 민족주의적 젠더 서사로 변형시키고 있는 <불사조> 등은 과거의 서사모형과 새로운 정치의식의 결합을 보여주는 사례들이다. 또한 '농토‘에 대한 반근대적, 정신주의적 태도와 사회주의적 개혁을 결합시키고 있는 <농토>는 식민지 시기 ’골동‘과 ’농토‘를 핵심으로 하여 제기했던 반근대주의적 태도가 어떻게 반자본주의적 정치의식으로 변환하여 사회주의와 접속할 수 있었는가를 보여주는 사례라고 하겠다. 이상을 전제로 하여 이 글에서 보다 주목한 것은 이태준의 해방 이후 소설이 미소 분할 점령의 편의선으로 그어진 삼팔선을 경계로 남북한 국가가 분절적으로 수립되어 간 과정에 대응하여 삼팔선을 심상의 지리로 구성하는 장소의 정치학을 보여준다는 사실이다. 해방 직후부터 1946년 7월의 월북 직전까지의 세계 인식을 보여주는 <해방전후>에서 ’현‘은 다원적이고 현실적으로 세계를 파악하며 어렴풋이 ‘삼팔선’의 위험을 지각하고 있었다. 월북 이후부터 남북한 단정이 수립되는 두 번째의 시기를 대표하는 <농토>에서는 북한－소련이라는 냉전적 블록에 편제된 삼팔 이북을 국가로 전체화하며 투신하고 있는 양상이 드러나 있다. 남북한이 정식으로 국가를 수립하고 분단이 확정된 이후에 남북한 단정수립 직전을 서사시간으로 하여 전개되고 있는 <먼지>에서는 이전까지 북한에 대해 보여주었던 절대적인 지지를 회의함으로써 <농토>에서 보여주었던 가치의식에 균열을 일으키고 있다. 이후 한국전쟁기의 소설에서는 ‘미국－일본－남한’, ‘소련－중공－북한’의 블록적 인식이 강고하게 자리하며 ‘미군’을 악의 표상으로 제시하는 소품들이 창작된다. 이제 삼팔선은 남북한의 국경이자 냉전의 진영선으로 확고하게 물질화된 것이다.

영어초록

Lee Tae－jun’s literature after liberation needs to be considered with the reading of compound eyes in ‘continuity and discontinuity’ with the literature in colonial period. Lee Tae－jun after liberation made it single line as racial identity for imperial identity, which had been possessed by literature in the colonial period. A Moonlight Night of an Ideology(思想의月夜) , which was changed into narration of racialism through an adaptation of an end in a piece of work, which uttered scientific ideology that had been the national policy in new－system period, and Phoenix(不死鳥), which is changing it into the racially gender narration based on the narrative model in 「The Holy Mother」 taht is a piece of work in the colonial period, are cases that show combination in the past narrative model and the new political consciousness. Also, Farmland(農土), which combines anti－modern and spiritual attitude toward ‘farmland’ with socialistic reform, can be said to be a case of showing how the anti－modern attitude, which had been proposed with having the core as ‘antique’ and ‘farmland’ in colonial period, can change into anti－capitalistic political consciousness and can connect with socialism. What was paid attention in this writing by having ideal as a proposition is a fact that the Lee Tae－jun’s novels after liberation show politics of a place that forms the 38 parallel as the imaginary topography by corresponding to the process that South－North Korea had been established segmentally with having boundary as the 38 parallel, which was drawn the convenience line of occupation in partition of America and Soviet Union. In Before and After Liberation(解放前後) that shows the global recognition up until right before crossing over North Korea in July of 1946 from right after liberation, ‘Hyeon’ was vaguely perceiving a risk of ‘the 38 parallel’ while grasping the world multi－functionally and realistically. In Farmland(農土) of standing for the second period that is established the independent government in South and North Korea from after crossing over the border into North Korea is being revealed the aspect of carrying on while making it the totality for the north of the 38th parallel, which was formed in the cold－war bloc called North Korea－Soviet Union. In Dust(먼지) of being developed the period right before the establishment in independent government of South and North Korea as the narrative sight after South and North Korea was formally established and after division was confirmed, it is causing a crack in value consciousness, which had been shown in Farmland, by being skeptical about absolute support, which had shown for North Korea until before. In a novel during the period of Korean war after then, the recognition of bloc in ‘US－Japan－South Korea’ and ‘Soviet Union－China－North Korea’ is strongly positioned. Trifling articles, which suggest ‘US army’ as symbol of evil, are created. Now, the 38 parallel was firmly materialized as the border of South and North Korea and as the bloc line of cold war.
