탈식민 전후 반공담론의 지속과 변주 (Continuity and Change of Anticommunism Discourse in South Korea before and after the Postcolonial)

초록

이 글은 한국 반공이데올로기의 초기 형성과정을 살펴보기 위해 탈식민 전후반공담론의 지속과 변주의 양상을 검토했다. 특히 이 글은 한국의 반공이데올로기를 외력이 조성한 식민과 탈식민 그리고 냉전의 직접적 산물로 보지 않았다.
그 대신 그러한 구조화된 역사적 조건과 상호작용하면서 자신의 정치노선을 추구했던 우익의 반공담론에 주목해서 접근했다. 실제 초기 한국의 반공이데올로기는자기 완결적 논리를 갖추거나 공산주의와의 논쟁을 통해 형성된 것이 아니었다. 민족운동 내 좌우대립의 경험을 바탕으로 탈식민 전후 역사적 국면의 전환에대응했던 우익 정치세력의 담론에 의해 구축된 측면이 강했다. 즉 한국의 반공이데올로기는 전변된 역사적 조건에 능동적으로 대처하면서, 늘 타자의 타자로서 자기 정체성을 형성했던 우익의 반좌반공담론과 그 궤적을 같이하면서 형성되었다.
이런 측면에서 이 글은 1920년대 이후 좌우갈등의 경험에서 비롯된 우익의 공산주의 운동에 대한 비판논리와 반감을 살펴보았다. 이 과정에서 ‘민족 대 계급’의 논쟁구도가 반복되는 가운데, 좌익의 초민족적 국제주의 계급노선에 대한 우익의 비판이 탈식민 전후 반공담론의 한 축을 이루었음을 주장했다. 이와 함께 식민과 탈식민 그리고 냉전의 국면 전환에 따른 반소반공담론의 변화양상을 분석했다.
특히 일제시기 ‘제국의 防共’ 담론과 해방 직후 민족·민주주의 시대의 그것 사이에 단절과 변화의 지점을 포착하여 양자 사이의 동형이질성을 드러냈다. 이어 미소대립의 심화 속에 반공담론의 논리가 재차 변화하는 가운데 냉전적 반공담론이 출현했음을 주장했다. 이를 통해 탈식민 전후 한국 반공담론의 다층적 구조와 함께 그것의 지속과 단절 그리고 변주의 과정을 밝혔다.

영어초록

To review the process early anti-communism was formed in Korea, this article studied the continuity and change in the discourse of anticommunism in South Korea before and after the postcolonial, Liberation. This study did not approach the anticommunism ideology in Korea as a direct by-product of a series of the colonial, postcolonial, and cold war made by the external, foreign force, but as the discourse of anticommunism caused by the right wing that pursued its political line, interacting with the structured historical conditions, instead. Actually, early anticommunism ideology in Korea was neither equipped with self-contained logic, nor formed through dispute with communism. It was almost established by the discourse of the right political power that coped with the historical change before and after the postcolonial based on the right-left conflict within the National Movement. That is, the anticommunism ideology in Korea was formed alongside the discourse of anti-left and anti-communism of the right wing that established self identity as the other of the otherness, coping with changing historical condition.
On the aspect, this article examined the critical logic for and hostility towards anticommunism movement held by the right wing based on the experience of the right and left conflict since 1920. In the process, ‘Nation versus Class’ controversy was repeated, and criticism of the right for the class line of transnational internationalism by the left was the pivot of the discourse of anticommunism before and after the Liberation. And the study analysed the changing aspect in the discourse of the Anti-Soviet and Anticommunism according to the series of the colonial, liberation, and cold war. Especially, the study examined the point of disconnection and change between ‘Imperial Anticommunism’ discourse under Japanese imperialism and that in the period of nationalism and democracy right after the Liberation, which showed isomorphism between the two periods. And then the study suggested that with the changing logic of anticommunism discourse in the US-the Soviet Conflict, communism was defined as the other of ‘liberal democracy’, the advent of cold-war anticommunism discourse, on which the study reviewed the continuity, disconnection, and change in the discourse of anticommunism with its multi-layered structure before and after the Liberation in Korea.
