미디어･미디어담론이 생산하는 전통춤의 이미지 연구: 2016년 TV역사드라마와 관련 인터넷기사를 중심으로 (A study on traditional dance imagesproduced by media and media discourse: Focusing on TV historical drama and related internet articles in 2016)

초록

본 연구는 현대 미디어 담론이 전통춤 이미지 생산에 일조한다는 가정 하에, 그 내용과 특징을 알아보기 위해 역사드라마 속 전통춤 장면과 관련 인터넷기사를 분석하였다.
연구 대상은 2016년에 방영된 TV역사드라마 8편 - <달의 연인-보보경심려>, <육룡이나르샤>, <대박>, <구르미 그린 달빛>, <장영실>, <장사의 신-객주>, <옥중화>, <마녀보감> 속 전통춤 장면과 포털사이트 ‘네이버’의 뉴스 카테고리에 게시된 관련 인터넷기사들이다.
전통춤 장면의 분석을 위해 ‘맥락, 연행자와 감상자, 춤의 종류, 강조되는 움직임과 에포트, 의상과 소품, 클로즈업 숏(close-up shot)’의 요소를 중점적으로 보았으며, 관련 인터넷기사의 내용에서 전통춤과 전통춤의 연행자를 어떻게 묘사하고 있는지 밝히기 위해 반복․강조되는 표현어들을 도출하였다. 또한 인터넷기사의 생산관행이 전통춤의 이미지 및 담론 생산과 어떠한 관련이 있는지 알아보았다.
연구 결과, 전통춤 장면에 나타나는 전통춤의 이미지는 아름다운 외형과 신비로운 분위기, 그리고 보는 이를 강렬하게 유혹할 수 있는 수단으로써 그려지고 있었으며 이는 전통춤 연행자의 이미지와 동일했다. 또한 대부분 젊은 여성 주역연기자들이 춤의 연행자를 담당하였으며 카메라의 클로즈업 숏 기법은 연행자의 얼굴을 중점적으로 촬영하고 있었다. 드라마에 노출된 전통춤의 종류와 동작의 외형은 드라마의 시대적 배경이나 인물들의 신분과 같은 역사적 조건에는 합당하지 않았으나, 연행자의 성별과 신분이 여성무희․여성무당에 국한된 점은 실제 역사적 사실에서 전혀 벗어나지 못했다.
인터넷기사의 내용 분석에서는 전통춤의 명칭이 전문적인 지식에 의거하지 않았다는 점, 그리고 전통춤 및 연행자를 묘사할 때 각 장면 속 춤의 종류나 서사적 상황이 서로 다른데도 불구하고 유사한 표현어들을 사용했다는 점이 특징적이었다. 이는 인터넷기사 내용이 드라마의 제작자나 연예매체 기자의 의도보다는, 연행자를 연기한 여성연예인의 소속 기획사에서 제공하고 포털 사이트에서 여과한 자료라는 점과 관련 깊다. 결국 전통춤 장면을 홍보하는 인터넷기사는 해당 연예인의 인기를 높이기 위한 수단으로써 작성된 것이기에 이것이 전통춤 담론으로서 대중들에게 전파될 때 많은 문제점을 지니고 있다는 점을 기억해야 할 것이다.
본 연구는 대중미디어물을 제작하거나 직․간접적 영향을 미치는 기득권의 의도를 인식함으로써 그들의 상업적 이익을 위해 변형된 의미와 이미지를 제대로 파악하고 억압되지 않는 문화소비를 지향하고자 한다. 특히 현대 미디어와 미디어담론이 생산하는 전통춤의 이미지를 밝힘으로써 무용계 안팎에 존재하는 ‘춤’, ‘춤추는 사람’, 특히 ‘춤추는 여성’에 대한 이미지를 연구하는데 의의가 있다.

영어초록

This study analyzed traditional dance scenes in historical dramas and related internet articles in order to understand their contents and characteristics, assuming that contemporary media discourse has contributed to the production of traditional dance images.
The subjects of the study are the traditional dance scenes from eight historical TV dramas, which were broadcasted in 2016: <Lovers of the Moon－BoBo Kyungsimryeo>, <Yookryongyinarshia>, <Daebak>, <Gurumigrindalbit>, <Jang Yeongsil>, <The Master of Business－Gaekju>, <Okjunghwa>, <Manyubogam> and related articles posted on the news category of the portal website Naver.
The study showed that the image of a traditional dance appearing in the traditional dance scenes was portrayed as a beautiful, mysterious, or powerful means of tempting viewers. Most of young, female main actors played the dancers, and the close-up shots focused on the performers' faces. The types of traditional dances exposed to the dramas and the appearance of their movements were not appropriate for the historical conditions, such as the background of the dramas or the status of the characters. In addition, the fact that the gender and status of the performers were confined to female dancers or female shamans could not go beyond the historical fact at all.
In the content analysis of the internet articles, it was found that the names of traditional dances were not based on professional knowledge. It was also found that, when describing traditional dances and performers, similar expressions were used despite the different types of dances and narrative situations in each scene. This is related to the fact that the contents of the internet articles were provided by the agency of the female entertainers who played the actors and filtered through the portal site, rather than reflecting the intention of the drama's producer or entertainment media reporters. In other words, the internet articles promoting the traditional dance scenes were written as a means to increase the popularity of entertainers. Therefore, it should be noted that this bears many problems when propagated to the public as a traditional dance discourse.
This study is significant, revealing the image of “dance”, “dancer”, and “dancing woman” in and out of the dance system by revealing the image of traditional dance produced by contemporary media and media discourse. Finally, it is hoped that this study can contribute to generalizing the images related to dance and preventing the excessive prejudice over dance.
