초록

Objectives This study reviewed the trends of clinical trials conducted in China with Chuna manual therapy for pediatric adenoid hypertrophy.
Methods China National Knowledge Infrastructure was searched by using the keywords “腺样体肥大”, “腺样肥大”, “腺 样腺肥大”, “推拿”, “導引”, “按摩”, for randomized controlled trials published up to November 26th, 2021. The analysis was focused on treatment methods and treatment results.
Results Six studies were identified. The total effective rate (TER) of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group, except for one study that included a treatment group combining oral herbal medicine and Chuna manual therapy, which eventually showed higher TER than that of the control group after 6 months of follow-up. The Obstructive Sleep Apnea-18 Survey Quality of Life Scale significantly improved in the treatment group compared to that in the control group in all studies. The most commonly applied acupoints for Chuna manual therapy were Gamgung (坎宫), Chunmun (天門), Bigyeong (脾經), Pyegyeong (肺經), Yeonghyang (迎香, LI20), Hapgok (合谷, LI4), and Joksamni (足三里, ST36).
Conclusions Chuna manual therapy is effective for pediatric adenoid hypertrophy. However, more well-designed, large-scale randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm the efficacy and safety of Chuna manual therapy for pediatric adenoid hypertrophy.
