문화적 공동체 역량 함양을 위한 민요교육의 방향 (The Directions of Korean Folk Song Education to Cultivate Cultural Community Competences)

초록

본고는 2015 개정 음악과 교육과정에 제시된 교과 역량 중 ‘문화적 공동체 역량’을 함양하기 위한 민요교육의 방향을 모색하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 2015 개정 교육과정 총론에 제시된 공동체 역량과 음악과 교육과정에 제시된 문화적 공동체 역량의 의미를 고찰한 후, 문화적 공동체 역량에 담긴 음악교육적 의미를 살펴보았다. 또한 문화적 공동체 역량을 구현하기 위한 교수․학습을 ‘이해, 수용, 참여’의 3단계로 구조화하여 이에 따라 민요교육의 방향을 논의해 보았다.
본고에서 모색한 문화적 공동체 역량 함양을 위한 민요교육의 방향을 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘이해’ 단계에서는 민요에 담긴 음악적․문학적 양식의 전통, 우리 민족의 전통적인 삶의 모습의 두 가지를 함께 다루어 우리 문화의 전통을 전반적으로 이해하는 데 중점을 두어야 한다. 둘째, ‘수용’ 단계에서는 민요에 담긴 공동체 문화의 가치를 수용할 수 있도록 문화적 가치가 풍부하게 내재된 민요를 선정해야 하며, 민요를 통해 바람직한 삶의 가치를 내면화할 수 있는 활동을 제시할 필요가 있다. 셋째, ‘참여’ 단계에서는 민요 전승 주체로서 사회 참여 의지를 함양할 수 있는 방안이 마련되어야 한다. 이를 위한 방안으로 민요의 전승 및 발전에 관한 문제에 학습자의 적극적인 참여를 유도하는 것, 민요를 활용하여 사회 문제 해결에 동참할 수 있는 학습자 양성을 제안하였다.
민요교육을 통해 문화적 공동체 역량을 함양시키기 위해서는 민요를 이해하고 연행할 수 있는 기본적인 능력이 우선적으로 전제되어 있어야 한다. 또한 민요의 문화적 가치를 해석하여 문제 해결 과정 속에 그것을 활용하고, 이를 음악적으로 표현해 내는 능력도 요구된다. 이런 측면에서 문화적 공동체 역량은 음악과에서 제시하고 있는 다양한 역량이 통합적으로 신장될 때 보다 잘 함양될 수 있다. 따라서 민요교육을 통해 음악 교과 역량을 통합적으로 함양시킬 수 있는 방안에 관한 연구가 계속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영어초록

This thesis aims to explore and examine the directions of Korean folk song education that can promote cultural community competence among subject competencies presented in the revised national music curriculum of 2015. The meaning of music education in the context of cultural community competence was studied by comparing and reviewing the cultural community competences presented in the general guidelines of the 2015 revised national curriculum and those presented in the revised national music curriculum of 2015. The directions of Korean folk song education were also discussed by structuralizing the teaching and learning to implement cultural community competence through three stages:understanding, acceptance and participation.
The directions of Korean folk song education for cultivating cultural community competence were sought and summarized as follows. First, in the understanding stage, emphasis should be placed on the general understanding of cultural traditions by dealing with both the musical and literary styles of traditions connoted in Korean folk songs and traditional lifestyles of our nation. Second, in the acceptance stage, folk songs with abundant cultural values should be selected to embrace the values of community cultures connoted in Korean folk songs and it is necessary to present activities for internalizing good life values through folk songs. Third, in the participation stage, it is necessary to prepare plans that will allow students to cultivate their willingness to engage in social participation as transmitters of Korean folk songs. As the ways to achieve these objectives, it was proposed to encourage students to actively participate in activities regarding the transmission and development of Korean folk songs and to encourage them to be willing to apply the cultural values of Korean folk songs as solutions to social problems.
The basic ability to understand and perform national folk songs should be a prerequisite for cultivating cultural community competences through Korean folk song education. It is also required to interpret the cultural values of Korean folk songs, apply them to ways of solving social problems, and express them musically. In this respect, it is believed that cultural community competences can be all the better cultivated when those competences presented in the revised national music curriculum of 2015 are collectively expanded.
Accordingly, it is thought that it is important to boost research on the ways to cultivate music subject competences collectively through Korean folk song education.
