현대시의 공동체 문화로서의 음식 고찰 (Consideration on Food as Community Culture in Modern Poetry)

초록

본고는 현대시에 나타난 음식 시를 정서적 문화 코드로 보고 이를 소재로 활용하는 시편들을 통해 사회문화적 공동체 경험의 이미지로 밝히는 것이 목적이다. 이에 2010년대 중반 이후에 출간된 한국의 당대 젊은 시인들의 첫 시집을 대상으로 하여 경험의 문제를 살펴본다. 특히 이들의 시에 나타나는 경험의 ‘인자’라고 할 수 있는 ‘음식’ 시편들이 어떻게 작동하는지를 중심으로 이들 젊은 시인들의 시에서 왜 경험이 다시금 중요한 인자로 떠오르는지 분석한다. 시인의 음식―경험은 시라는 작품과 시대의 시적 자장에 영향을 끼친다. 그러므로 한국의 동시대 일군의 시인들을 중심으로 그들의 사적 혹은 사회적 경험을 음식 이미지와 연관하여 반추하는 것은 현대시를 감각적으로 조명하는데, 필요성이 있다. 나아가 시인 개인의 삶의 문제와 현실 문제를 음식 문화를 통해 어떻게 풀어내는지를 살펴보는 일은 현대시문학사에서 중요한 의미를 지닌다.
본고의 텍스트인 2010년대 중반에 첫 시집을 펴낸 박소란, 이설야, 최지인, 임솔아, 신철규의 시에서 음식 이미지가 어떻게 표현되는지 살펴보기 위해, 앞서 한국시에서 ‘백석’과 그의 전통을 잇고 있는 안도현, 장석남 등의 시에서의 음식 이미지와의 차이를 선행적으로 분석했다. 이러한 대비를 통한 음식 시에 대한 예비적 고찰 후에 당대의 젊은 시인들의 작품 속에 등장하는 ‘음식 시편’에 접근했다. 그것은 음식 시가 보편적인 사회문화적인 현상으로서 가령 백석 음식 시의 경우 암울한 시대 현실 속에서 구원의 가능성으로 존재하며 대표적으로 나타난다는 것을 앞서 논의할 필요가 있기 때문이다. 그것은 시대를 막론하고 공동체의 회복을 위해 현실 속의 자기 자신을 심미적 미감으로 털어놓는 날것으로서의 현실 드러내기라는 시적 전략의 일환에 따른 것이다.
이처럼 본고의 연구방법에서 현대의 음식 문화적 코드를 존재론적 경험의 문제로 탐구하면서 공동체 회복과 구원의 가능성을 논의하였다. 이를 위해 본격적으로 ‘음식 이미지와 경험의 형상화’를 세 가지로 분류하여 탐문한 것이다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to regard food poetry found in the history of modern poetry with affective culture codes and examine poems using it as a subject matter to reveal it as the image of sociocultural community experience. Here, this author will take the first collections of poems written by young contemporary poets in Korea which have been published after the mid-2010’s and examine the matter of experience. Particularly, focusing on how the poems of ‘food’ that can be said to be ‘the factor’ of experience found in their poems work, this study analyzes why experience arises as a crucial factor in the young poets’ poems again. A poet’s food, so-called experience, influences the works of poems and the magnetic field of poetry in the age. Therefore, it is needed to ruminate on the poets in Korea who have cultivated the history of contemporary poetry associating their private or social experience with food image to give light upon modern poetry in sensate ways. Furthermore, it is significant to investigate how the poet’s individual matters of life and practical issues are depicted through food culture in terms of the history of modern poetic literature.
In order to examine how food image is expressed in the text of this paper, the poems of Pak So-ran, Lee Seol-ya, Choi Ji-in, Im Sol-a, and Sin Cheol-gyu who issued their first collection of poems in the mid-2010’s, this author has preferentially analyzed how the food image in them is different from that found in the poems written by such poets as An Do-hyeon and Jang Seok-nam who succeeded to ‘Baek Seok’ and his tradition among advanced poems in Korea. After considering food poems preliminarily through that comparison, this writer approached ‘food poems’ appearing in the works of those young contemporary poets. The reason is that it is necessary to discuss the fact that food poems involve universal, sociocultural phenomena, and for instance, Baek Seok’s food poems exist as the possibility of salvation in the reality of the dismal era and appear representatively in advance. It conforms to a part of poetic strategy to reveal reality as something raw that one discloses oneself in reality with a sense of aesthetics to recover the community regardless of time.
Concerning the method of this study, this researcher has explored the codes of contemporary food culture as the matter of ontological experience and discussed the possibility of community recovery and salvation. To address the goal, this study has classified ‘the embodiment of food image and experience’ into three types and explored them genuinely.
