인공지능 시대, 한국 현대시 연구의 과제와 전망—생성형 인공지능 챗GPT를 중심으로 (The Age of artificial Intelligence, The Challenges and Prospects of contemporary Korean Poetry―Centering on the generative artificial Intelligence ChatGPT)

초록

본고는 인공지능 시대가 본격적으로 도래함을 목도하는 현 시점에서, 한국 현대시 연구가 당면한 과제를 검토하고 그 향방을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 삼는다. 이를 위한 전제로 생성형 인공지능이 산출하는 결과물을 현상으로서의 텍스트 개념으로 재고하였다. 주체와 객체를 확정적으로 분할하지 않고, 서로 얽혀드는 과정으로 내부-작용하는 현상으로서의 텍스트 개념은 인간과 챗GPT의 관계를 규명하는 데 일조한다. 생성형 인공지능이 산출하는 결과물은 양자의 교류 속에서 형성되는 까닭이다. 인류가 쌓은 빅데이터를 챗GPT에 습득시키고, 인간의 일차 질문(명령‧요구)이 제기되고, 일차 질문을 수렴한 챗GPT가 일차 응답(실행)을 하고, 산출된 텍스트를 읽은 인간의 이차 질문(명령‧요구)이 뒤따르고, 이차 질문을 수렴한 챗GPT의 이차 응답(실행)이 피드백되는 환류 구조의 형태로 텍스트가 생산된다.
다음으로는 챗GPT를 활용한 시 분석에 착목하였다. 본고는 이것을 두 가지로 나누어 하나는 인공지능이 산출한 텍스트가 나오기 이전의 시를 대상으로 챗GPT를 활용한 연구를 도입하는 과제, 다른 하나는 인공지능이 산출한 텍스트가 나온 이후의 시를 대상으로 새로운 연구 방법론을 탐구하는 과제를 설정하였다. 인공지능이 산출한 텍스트가 나오기 이전의 시를 대상으로 챗GPT를 활용한 연구를 수행하는 과제의 경우, 할루시네이션으로 인해 부정확한 정보가 출력되는 일이 적지 않았다. 그러므로 본고는 현 시점에서 생성형 인공지능을 사용하여 유의미한 연구 성과를 도출할 확률은 낮다고 판단하였다.
인공지능이 산출한 텍스트가 나온 이후의 시를 대상으로 새로운 연구 방법론을 탐구하는 과제의 경우, 기존에 통용되던 작가(시인)론과 작품론을 그대로 적용하는 것은 불가함을 주장하였다. 이는 인공지능이 산출한 현상으로서의 텍스트를 인간 중심 관점으로만 파악하여 분석의 오류를 낳기 때문이다. 이에 본고는 인공지능 시대, 한국 현대시 연구의 과제로 인문 비평과 기계 비평을 아우르는 연구 관점의 확대, 문화론적 시 연구의 심화, 문학에 국한된 시학의 범주를 쓰는 행위의 활동성으로 전환하는 태도가 필요함을 역설하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to review the challenges faced by Korean modern poetry research and to seek its direction at this point in time when we are witnessing the arrival of the era of artificial intelligence in earnest. As a premise for this, the results produced by generative artificial intelligence were reconsidered as a text concept as a phenomenon. The concept of text as an intra-action phenomenon in a process of intertwining without definitively dividing the subject and the object helps to identify the relationship between humans and ChatGPT. This is because the output produced by generative artificial intelligence is formed in the exchange of quantum. The big data accumulated by mankind is acquired by ChatGPT, the human’s primary question (command/request) is raised, the ChatGPT that collects the primary question gives the primary response (execution), and the human secondary question after reading the generated text Text is produced in the form of a feedback structure in which (command/request) follows, and the secondary response (execution) of ChatGPT, which has converged secondary questions, is fed back.
Next, this paper paid attention to the analysis of poetry using ChatGPT. This paper divides this into two, one is the task of introducing research using ChatGPT for poetry before the text produced by artificial intelligence comes out, and the other is for poetry after the text produced by artificial intelligence comes out. As a result, the task of exploring a new research methodology was set. In the case of the task of conducting research using ChatGPT for poems before the text calculated by artificial intelligence came out, there were not a few cases in which inaccurate information was output due to hallucination. Therefore, this paper judged that the probability of deriving meaningful research results using generative AI at this point is low.
In the case of the task of exploring a new research methodology for poetry after the text produced by artificial intelligence, it was argued that it was impossible to apply the existing author (poet) theory and work theory as it is. This is because text as a phenomenon produced by artificial intelligence is grasped only from a human-centered point of view, resulting in errors in analysis. Therefore, this paper emphasized the need to expand research perspectives that encompass humanistic criticism and machine criticism, deepen cultural theoretical poetry studies, and shift the category of poetics limited to literature to the activity of writing as a task for research on contemporary Korean poetry in the era of artificial intelligence.
