환경심리학적 접근을 통한 청소년문화의집 실내공간디자인 요소 분석 및 개선 방향 연구 (Analysis of Interior Space Design Elements of Youth Culture Center Through An Environmental Psychological Approach and Research on Ways to Improve)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 청소년기는 신체적, 정서적으로 많은 변화가 있는 시기로 청소년들은 심리적으로 매우 민감하며 다양한 고민과 갈등을 겪는다. 우리나라 청소년의 경우 치열한 입시환경에서 오는 압박에 놓여있으며 극심한 스트레스와 부적응을 경험하며 부정적 심리상태에서 높은 게임 과몰입 상태를 보이고 또한 지난 9년간 청소년 사망원인의 1위가 자살이라는 가슴 아픈 통계를 남기게 되었다. 이러한 상황에 놓인 청소년들이 정서적으로 건강하게 성장할 수 있도록 돕는 청소년 문화 활동의 긍정적 효과에 대한 연구들이 보고되며 이를 위한 청소년 전용공간에 대한 관심도가 높아져 청소년시설의 수가 계속 증가하는 추세이다. 그러나 기존의 청소년시설은 이용자들의 다양한 욕구를 만족시키지 못하고 있다는 의견이 지속해서 제기되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 환경심리학적 관점에서 청소년의 발달 과정에 따른 심리적 특성과 욕구를 명확히 파악하고 이를 수용한 공간디자인 방향 마련에 기초를 제공하자 한다. (연구방법) 본 연구에서는 먼저 청소년의 발달 과정에 따른 심리적 특성과 욕구를 파악하고 물리적 공간요소가 심리와 행태에 미치는 영향에 관한 환경심리학의 선행연구와 이론을 분석하였다. 이후 사례조사를 위해 서울지역에 있는 청소년문화의집 세 곳을 선정하고 공간분석에 앞서 이곳을 이용하는 청소년을 대상으로 환경심리와 관련된 각 실내공간 요소에 대해 얼마나 중요하게 생각하는지 중요도 의식을 설문으로 조사하였다. 그리고 선행연구 및 이론의 고찰을 통해 물리적 공간요소와 청소년의 심리와의 관련성을 종합하여 분석 틀을 만들고 이에 근거하여 사례조사 공간을 분석하고 개선점을 종합하였다. (결과) 설문 조사 결과 청소년 이용자들은 환경심리와 관련된 실내디자인 요소에 높은 중요도 의식을 나타내었다. 그러나 선정된 청소년문화의집의 실내공간디자인은 도출한 분석 틀에 따라 조사한 결과 청소년 시기의 발달특성을 고려한 정서적, 심리적으로 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 실내환경요소를 갖추지 못하거나 미비한 공간이 많았다. (결론) 청소년들의 실내디자인 요소에 대한 높은 관심과 심리적 욕구를 반영한 청소년 공간디자인 마련을 위해 먼저 청소년기의 발달특성과 심리상황에 대한 심도 있는 조사가 필요하다. 이를 바탕으로 청소년들의 욕구와 정서를 명확히 파악하고 이를 마음과 행동에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 실내공간디자인 요소에 반영하여 청소년 공간으로서의 정체성을 드러내고 이용자에게 만족감을 주는 노력이 요구된다. 본 논문은 현시대의 청소년 공간디자인을 돌아보고 환경심리학적 관점에서 청소년들의 심리적 욕구를 반영한 청소년 공간디자인 마련의 중요성을 강조하고 디자인 가이드의 방향성을 도출하였다. 앞으로 환경심리요소가 청소년 공간디자인에 반영될 수 있도록 돕는 기초 자료가 되기를 기대한다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) Adolescents experience many physical and emotional changes, are psychologically sensitive, and suffer from various concerns and conflicts. It has been found that Korean adolescents experience extreme stress and maladjustment due to the fierce entrance examination environment, show a high state of immersion in games in negative psychological conditions. Suicide has been found to be the number one cause of youth death over the past nine years. Studies have reported the positive effects of youth cultural activities that help teenagers become emotionally healthy, and interest in youth-only spaces and the number of youth facilities has been rising. However, studies continue to show that existing youth facilities do not satisfy the diverse needs of users. This study aimed to determine the psychological characteristics and desires of adolescents according to the developmental processes from an environmental psychological point of view and establish a spatial design direction that accepts them. (Method) First, psychological characteristics and needs of adolescents according to the developmental processes were identified, and previous studies and theories on environmental psychology were analyzed to determine the effect of physical spatial factors on psychology and behavior. Second, for the case study, a questionnaire was administered to determine the importance of each interior space element related to environmental psychology for teenagers who selected and used three youth culture centers in Seoul. Third, an analysis framework was created by synthesizing the relationship between physical space elements and adolescent psychology, based on which the case study space was analyzed, and improvements were synthesized. (Results) The survey revealed that adolescent users showed a high sense of importance for interior design elements related to environmental psychology. However, the interior space design of youth culture centers did not sufficiently incorporate interior environmental elements that had a positive emotional and psychological effect, considering the developmental characteristics of adolescents. (Conclusions) To prepare a space design for adolescents that reflects their high interest and psychological needs in interior design elements, an in-depth investigation into the developmental characteristics and psychological situation of adolescents was conducted. Based on the findings of this study, efforts are required to clearly grasp the needs and emotions of adolescents and reflect them in interior space design elements that affect their minds and behaviors to provide satisfaction. This study examined contemporary youth spatial design and emphasized the importance of preparing youth spatial design reflecting the psychological needs of adolescents from an environmental psychological point of view and determined the direction design guides should take. The basic data derived in this study will help factor environmental psychological point of view in youth spatial design.
