디지털매거진 플랫폼을 활용한 디자인 수업 모형 개발 연구 -모아진 서비스를 중심으로- (A Study on the Development of Design Instruction Models with a Digital Magazine Platform -Focusing on Moazine Services-)

초록

기초학력 미달학생 비율의 급격한 상승과 코로나 확산으로 인한 장기간의 학습공백은 최근 교육계의 큰 문제로 대두되었다. 특히 코로나 19 사태가 장기화되어학교수업이 장기간 불가피하게 온라인 수업으로 대체되면서 학력과 관련된 공신력 있는 각종 지표에서 학력저하 및 기초학력 미달 증가 현상이 두드러지게 나타나고 있다. 이러한 기초학력이 부족한 세대가 대학에 진학하면서 학년별 기초학력의 편차는 더욱 커지고 이는대학에서 전공수업을 운영하는 데 있어서 큰 어려움을초래하였다. 특히 실기 중심 강좌는 실습실을 비롯한공간적 제약과 상호작용의 제약으로 운영상 어려움이많았다. 이는 대학의 수업 만족도 조사에서 특히 예체능 전공과 같이 실기의 비중이 높은 분야에서 낮은 만족도로 나타났다. 이에 따라 대면 활동과 외부 정보수집이 제한적인 상황에서 개인의 역량을 제고할 수 있는실기 수업에 적용 가능한 수업모형에 대한 필요성이 제기되었다. 특히 디자인 관련 학과는 다양한 시각적 자료와 정보수집이 필수적임에도 교수자 개인의 교수법과 학생 주도적으로 자료조사를 하다보니 개인별 편차가 심해 수업의 난이도 조절에 어려움이 초래되었다.
이에 본 연구는 온라인 수업의 장기화에 따른 개인역량강화를 위한 대안으로 디자인 수업에서 대학 온라인 도서관의 DB인 디지털매거진 플랫폼을 활용한 수업모형을 제안하고자 한다. 본 연구는 구체적으로 대학의 실기수업 중 편집디자인 수업을 디지털도서관의 디지털매거진 플랫폼을 활용해 정보를 수집하고 레이아웃 분석을 통해 본인의 작업에 적용하여 주제별로 발전시키는 수업모형을 개발하고 그 효과성을 검증하는 것을 연구목적으로 한다.
연구방법으로는 우선 선행연구와 문헌연구를 통해 도서관에서 제공하는 국내1위 잡지포털서비스 모아진(Moazine)을 중심으로 잡지 산업의 현황과 플랫폼의 인터페이스를 비롯한 콘텐츠와 사용자의 사용성을 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 편집디자인 수업에서 매거진 플랫폼을 활용해 시각디자인 리서치 분석 능력단위를 효과적으로 습득할 수 있는 수업 모형을 제안하고자 한다.
수업모형을 기반으로 온⋅오프라인을 병행하는 블랜디드 수업을 진행하였으며 1주차에 진단평가와 15 주차의 사후평가 총 2번의 설문을 통해 NCS능력단위의 성취도를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과로써 온라인수업 시 교수자에게만 의존하는 단일방향의 교수법에서 벗어나 학생들이 다양한 디지털 플랫폼을 활용해정보를 리서치하고 이를 전공분야에 적용할 수 있는수업모형의 실증적 자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.

영어초록

During the Covid-19 crisis, the rapid increase in the number of students in the below basic achievement level and the absence of traditional schooling have become a serious social challenge. As the pandemic is prolonged and school classes have been inevitably shifted to online mode for a long time, a number of education indicators showed weakening academic abilities and a surge in the number of students in the below basic achievement level. And as a generation who lacks basic academic skills entered universities, a widening academic achievement gap has been found between freshmen and seniors, therefore universities have difficulty in managing major courses. In particular, online learning did not work well for classes that require hands-on practice. There have been limitations on practice space and face-to-face training, thereby leading to low satisfaction rate for music and art colleges. So it was needed to develop an instruction model for practice classes to help improve the competency of students under the circumstance where external activities and information collection are limited.
While design-related majors require students to collect various visual data and information, students have varying levels of competency depending on teaching method and students’ planning. Thus, this study aims to suggest an instruction model for utilizing a digital magazine platform that provides access to Korean and foreign language e-magazines, which is in the university library database. The purpose of this research is to develop and verify the effectiveness of an instruction model for motivating students to collect information through a digital magazine, analyze layout, apply it to their task, and develop their own work by topic in editorial design class.
In terms of methodology, preliminary research and literature review were conducted to analyze the current state of the magazine industry and the interface and usability of platforms focusing on Moazine, the largest Korean e-magazine platform. Then an instruction model was developed for helping students effectively learn research analysis competency units of visual design through magazine platforms in editorial design class. Based on the instruction model, online-offline blended learning class was conducted and the achievement levels of NCS competency units of the 1st week and the 15th week were compared with the diagnostic evaluation of the 1st week and the post-evaluation of the 15th week. The findings of this study can be utilized as an empirical data to suggest instruction models for motivating students to research data through various digital magazine platforms and apply them to their major areas as an alternative to one-way teaching from the instructor to the student in online courses.
