민속의 한국어 문화교육적 활용 가능성 모색: 줄다리기를 중심으로 (A Study on the Possibility of Using Folklore in Korean Culture Education: Focusing on Tugging Rituals and Games)

초록

본고는 민속의 한국어 문화교육적 활용 가능성을 부각하기 위해 줄다리기에 내재한 한국문화적 의미를 살펴보고 강의안을 제시하였다. 민속은 민족문화의 핵심적인 문화이며, 특히 줄다리기는 한국문화의 원형성과 역사성은 물론이고 2015년 유네스코 인류무형유산으로 등재된 대표성을 가진 문화유산이라 할 수 있다. 또한 동아시아 벼농사 지역의 공통 문화 현상이라는 점에서 보편성을 획득하고 있다.
줄다리기는 한반도의 생업인 벼농사와 밀접한 관련성이 있다. 추수 후 남는 볏짚을 엮어 줄을 만들면, 그 줄은 곧 금줄이 되어 성과 속의 경계를 만드는 역할을 한다. 줄다리기를 행했던 정월대보름은 신년제로 한 해의 농사가 시작되기 전 달을 보고 풍요를 기원하는 세시풍속이었고, 이때 행해졌던 줄다리기 역시 풍요기원의 의례였다는 점에서 민간신앙적 삶의 태도를 엿볼 수 있다. 또한 거대한 줄을 만들고 줄다리기를 하는 과정에서 두레가 중요한 역할을 했다는 점에서 전통적인 마을 단위의 공동체성을 이해할 수 있으며, 18세기 이후 줄다리기의 역사적 변화과정을 통해 한국문화의 현재를 이해할 수 있다. 또한 줄다리기가 한국만이 아닌 동아시아 공통의 문화유산이라는 점 은 한국어 문화교육에 시사하는 바가 크다.
이에 줄다리기를 대상으로 목표문화의 원형적 상징과 세계관을 이해하고 이를 자국 문화와 비교하는 과정을 통해 상호문화이해에 이르는 교실학습과 현장학습을 병행하는 강의안을 구성하였다. 이 강의를 통해 학습자가 목표문화와 자국문화의 문화적 공통성과 특성을 파악하는 과정을 거치면서 심층적인 소통에 이르는 데 목표를 두었다. 민속문화는 의사소통부터 사회문화 이해에 기반한 언어능력 습득을 목적으로 하는 한국어교육에서 교육적 활용 가능성이 풍부하다. 앞으로 줄다리기뿐만 아니라 동아시아, 나아가 전 세계가 소통할 수 있는 문화적 모티브를 선별하고 구체적 교육방안을 제시하고자 한다.

영어초록

In order to highlight the possibility of using folklore for Korean language cultural education, this study examined the Korean cultural meaning inherent in Tugging Rituals and Games and presented specific lecture plans. Folklore is a core culture of national culture, and in particular, Tugging Rituals and Games is a representative cultural heritage as it was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2015, as well as the originality and history of Korean culture. In addition, it has acquired universality in that it is a common cultural phenomenon in East Asian rice farming regions.
Tugging Rituals and Games is closely related to rice farming, a livelihood on the Korea. If you make a rope by weaving the remaining rice straw after harvest, the rope will soon become a gold rope and play a role in making the boundary between the castle and the inside. The Tugging Rituals and Games was performed on Jeongwol Daeboreum, which was a New Year's festival to pray for abundance by looking at the month before the farming of the year. In addition, in that the dure played an important role in the process of making a huge rope and playing Tugging Rituals and Games, it is possible to understand the communal nature of the traditional village unit, and the present Korean culture can be understood through the historical change process of Tugging Rituals and Games since the 18th century. In addition, the fact that Tugging Rituals and Games is a common cultural heritage of East Asia, not just Korea, has great implications for Korean language culture education.
Therefore, the lecture plan was composed of three stages of ‘classroom learning, field learning, and project learning’ to understand the archetypal symbols and worldview of the target culture and to understand each other's culture through the process of comparing it with the native culture. The goal was to prepare opportunities for learners to identify the cultural commonality and characteristics of the target culture and their own culture, accumulate cultural knowledge, and develop their thinking skills. Folk culture has abundant potential for educational use in Korean language education for the purpose of acquiring language skills based on communication and in-depth understanding of social culture. In the future, not only Tugging Rituals and Games, but also East Asia and furthermore, we will select cultural motifs that can communicate with the world and present specific educational plans.
