디지털 경전주석학의 모색 ― 한국경학자료시스템을 중심으로 (A Study on a Commentary Study of Confucian Classics in Digital Form ― Focusing on the Korean Confucian Classics Data System)

초록

전통시대 유학의 근간이었던 경학은 동아시아의 사상과 문화뿐 아니라, 정치와경제에 이르기까지 그 기본 원리를 제공한 학문이다. 이러한 경학 저술에 대하여중국과 일본에서는 일찍부터 목록의 정리에서 자료의 회집에 이르기까지 다양한 연구의 전통이 마련되었다.
이에 비해 한국에서는 전통적인 경학자료의 회집이 없지는 않았으나 상대적으로미흡했다. 성균관대학교 대동문화연구원은 1988~1998년에 조선조에 단편적으로이루어졌던 한국경학자료를 회집하여 『韓國經學資料集成』이라는 명칭으로 출간했다. 또 이 총서의 가치를 인정받아 정부의 지원하에 2004년부터 단계적으로 DB화를 진행하여, 현재 한국경학자료시스템(http://koco.skku.edu/)이라는 명칭으로 공개하고 있다.
이 글은 성균관대 대동문화연구원에서 완간한 『한국경학자료집성』과 그 DB화의성과인 한국경학자료시스템을 검토하고, 이어서 한국의 경학자료를 DB화한 또 다른 사이트를 살펴보면서 한국의 경학DB를 활용한 경학연구의 새로운 지평을 모색한 것이다. ‘디지털 경학주석학’이라고 명명한 이 연구방법론을 수립하기 위해 그현황과 성과를 점검했으며, 보완한 몇 가지 사항을 짚어보았다.
검토 결과 『한국경학자료집성』의 완성은 동아시아에서 중국과 일본에 비해 그회집의 역사가 일천했던 한국 경학자료의 규모와 위상을 확인한 학술적 진전이었다. 한국유학의 저력을 구체적인 자료로 입증할 수 있는 문헌적 근거를 마련한 것이기 때문이다. 이를 효과적인 방식으로 전산화한 한국경학자료시스템은 中日에는 이제까지 없었던 주석별 검색이라는 방식을 전산화 과정에 도입함으로써 경학자료를활용한 연구에 획기적인 전환을 가져왔다.
그러나 보완작업 역시 요청되고 있다. 원천자료에 대한 수습과 정리의 보완, 이본대조를 통한 교감과 정본화, 표점작업, 일반 대중과의 소통을 위한 다양한 원전자료의 국역본의 제시가 그것이다. 한국경학자료시스템의 활용성을 확장하고 디지털 경학주석학 연구의 발전을 위한 준비과정으로서 그 지속적인 보완은 여전히 요청된다.

영어초록

The study of Confucian Classics, which was the basis of Confucianism in the traditional era, provided the basic principles from thoughts and cultures to politics and economies in East Asia. For the writings about Confucian Classics, a variety of research traditions was developed in China and Japan earlier on. It ranged from cataloging the writings to assembling them. In contrast, there was a traditional assemblage of the writings of Confucian Classics in Korea. However, it was relatively insufficient. Finally, this insufficient work which was carried out fragmentarily in the Joseon Dynasty was completed in 1998 after beginning the work in 1988 by the Daedong Institute for Korean Studies of Sunkyunkwan University(DIKSSU). DIKSSU gathered Korean Confucian Classics materials and published it under the title of The Complete Collection of the Korean Study of Confucian Classics. Furthermore, with the support of Korean government which recognized the value of the Collection, DIKSSU has gradually developed the digital database and opened the Korean Confucian Classics Data System (http://koco.skku.edu/) and opened to the public.
This paper examined The Complete Collection of the Korean Study of Confucian Classics, which was completed by the Daedong Institute for Korean Studies of Sunkyunkwan University, and also examined the Korean Confucian Classics Data System which was the result of its database. Also it pursued for a new horizon through searching another similar websites. In order to establish the research methodology named 'a Commentary Study of Confucian Classics in Digital Form', we checked its current status and achievements and several details that were improved later.The paper finds that the completion of The Complete Collection of the Korean Study of Confucian Classics made an academic progress that confirmed the size and status of the Korean Confucian Classics' materials, which has insufficient history of gathering compared to them of China and Japan. The Collection provides a literal basis for verifying the strength of Korean Confucianism with concretely established data. An effectively computerized <the Korean Confucian Classics Data System> has innovated the field of relevant researches by introducing the searching method by classified annotations, which had never been available in China and Japan.
However, additional works are also needed to improve the system. In order to expand the applicability of <the Korean Confucian Classics Data System> and to improve the Commentary Study of Confucian Classics in Digital Form, it is necessary to gather and arrange original materials, to correct errors by comparing different versions, to work for marking and to provide Korean versions of the original materials for interacting with public. And these works continuously needs to be improved.
