초록

이 논문에서는 1990년대 이후 작품을 대상으로 하여 한중수교를 통해 중국 조선족이 한국 사회와 교류하기 시작한 이후로 그들이 형성해온 한국에 대한 의식을 이중정체성의 관점 하에 살펴보고, 나아가 새롭게 모색해가는 조선족의 정체성 정립에 대한 전망의 단서들을 찾아보았다. 한중수교 직후 감상적 민족 개념에 의지한 한국에 대한 기대가 실망과 환멸을 거쳐 다시 합리적인 인식에 이르기까지 조선족의 대한국관은 고정되지 않고 꾸준히 변화해왔다. 그 과정에서 조선족 사회에 대한 자기반성과 자본주의 경제체제에 대한 합리적 이해에의 노력이 긍정적인 면에서 큰 역할을 했다고 볼 수 있었다. 조선족 사회가 한국, 혹은 한국인과의 관계 속에서 자신들만의 확고한 정체성을 확보해나갈 수 있는 단서로는 남북관계의 중개자로서 조선족 사회의 역할, 한국인보다 우위에 선 조선족 인물의 등장, 인간 대 인간의 관점에서 형성된 조선족과 한국인의 관계 등을 내세운 작품들을 택해 고찰해보았다.
이러한 주제들은 그간 한국사회를 비판적으로 그려낸 관점에서 벗어나 객관적으로 한국과 한국인을 바라보면서 조선족의 자존심을 회복하고 나아가 조선족 사회와 한국사회가 둘 다 발전할 수 있는 방향으로 조선족이 기여할 수 있는 방안을 모색했다는 점에서 의미 있다고 할 것이다. 이는 또한 국민정체성과 민족정체성 사이에서 갈등하는 조선족이 아니라 오히려 이중정체성의 입지를 자신들의 밝은 미래를 위한 적극적인 도구로 활용해 나가는 조선족을 그려낸다는 점에서 조선족 문학이 앞으로 지속적으로 추구해 나가야 할 방향이라고 생각한다.

영어초록

This research examined the consciousness that the Korean-Chinese have had toward Korea since they began to interchange with Korean society through the establishment of Korea-China diplomatic relations from the viewpoint of dual identity in the literary works since the 1990s, and explored the clue of the prospect for establishing the identity of the Korean-Chinese that has been newly explored. The views of Korea by the Korean-Chinese have not been fixed but have been steadily changing from expectations for, and being disillusioned with, Korea based on the concept of sentimental nationalism right after the establishment of Korea-China diplomatic relations to the rational perception. In this process, it could be seen that the self-reflection on the Korean-Chinese society and efforts for rational understanding of the capitalist economic system played a great role in the positive aspect. As the clue for the Korean-Chinese society to secure the firm identity of their own in relations with Korea or Koreans, the literary works, which represent the role of the Korean-Chinese society as intermediary of the relations between South and North Korea, the appearance of the Korean-Chinese characters who are superior to Koreans, and the relationship between the Korean-Chinese and Koreans from a human-to-human point of view, were examined.
Such themes can be considered meaningful in that they explored the ways that the Korean-Chinese can make contribution in the direction in which both Korean-Chinese society and Korean society can be developed together by being freed from describing the Korean society with criticism but viewing Korea and Koreans objectively and restoring the self-esteem of the Korean-Chinese. I think it is the direction in which the Korean-Chinese literature will continue to pursue to describe the Korean-Chinese who would utilize the position of dual identity as positive tools for their bright future rather than the Korean-Chinese who are conflicting between the national identity and ethnic identity.
