조선족 소설에 나타난 가족 해체로 인한 자녀 교육 문제의 서술 양상과 그 해결의 모색 -1990년대 이후 작품을 대상으로- (The Aspect of Narration on the Education Problems of Children Caused by Family Breakdown Represented in the Novels of Ethnic Koreans Living in China - With Focus on the Novels after the 1990s -)

초록

중국이 개혁개방 정책을 쓰고 1992년 한중수교가 시작되면서 중국 내 교포 사회는 큰 변화를 겪게 되었다. 초기에 가족 상봉을 목적으로 했던 중국교포들의 한국행이 곧 이어 경제적 이윤 추구를 위한 것으로 본격화하면서 다수의 조선족 동포들이 중국 내에 가족을 남겨둔 채 한국행을 택했고, 이 외에 연해지역의 대도시로 진출하는 조선족 동포들의 수도 증가하였다. 이러한 사회적 변화는 연변을 중심으로 한 조선족 민족공동체를 약화시키는 동시에 가족 공동체가 해체되면서 가족 내의 크고 작은 문제들을 양산하는 결과를 낳게 된다. 대표적인 것이 부부의 별거와 외도로 인한 이혼율의 증가인데, 이로 인해 아버지나 어머니 중 한쪽과 자녀만으로 구성된 가정이나 조손(祖孫)가정의 수가 늘어나고 나아가서는 자녀들만 남아 하숙 형태로 생활하는 경우도 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있게 되었다. 또한 조선족이 떠난 빈 자리를 한족이 채워가는 새로운 변화의 조짐이 나타나고 있기도 하다.
본고에서는 이러한 양상에 관심을 가지면서, 특히 부모의 부재로 인한 자녀 교육 문제에 대해 1990년대 이후 조선족 작가의 소설 작품을 대상으로 그 서술 양상을 살펴보고자 했다. 구체적으로는 정서 불안으로 인한 문제 행동과 정신적 무력화와 소비지향성의 강화, 민족어의 단절 등을 문제적 양상으로 작품에서 짚어내고, 작품에 나타난 작가의식을 통해 이에 대한 해결 방안을 모색해보고자 했다. 그 결과 조선족의 이주에 대해 새롭고 더 나은 삶을 추구해가는 개척정신의 전통 아래 긍정적으로 보고자 하는 시각과 그러한 흐름을 부정하지는 않으면서도 그로 인한 가족 공동체와 나아가서는 민족공동체의 와해를 더 크게 우려하는 두 가지 상대적 시각이 충돌하면서 작품 속에서 노출되는 면에 주목했다. 가족 해체로 인한 자녀 교육 문제의 해결 방법은 이러한 상대적 시각을 절충시키는 방향에서 찾아져야 하며, 그 절충의 핵심은 조선족의 해외나 대도시로의 진출이 공동체의 와해가 아닌 재도약에 기여할 수 있는 방향으로 진행될 때 가능하게 될 것이라고 생각한다.

영어초록

As China has adopted reform and open-door policies and established diplomatic relations with Korea in 1992, Korean residents’ society in China has undergone great changes. At first, Korean residents in China visits to Korea aimed mainly for family reunion but led to the pursuit of economic profits soon after, and many ethnic Koreans living in China chose to leave their family in China for Korea, and increasingly advanced into the big coastal cities.Such social changes have weakened the ethnic Korean community around the Yanbian region and caused family breakdown, bringing about in many problems within families. The typical problems are increase in divorce rate resulting from separation and extramarital affairs, so the number of families composed of single parent or grand parent and children has increased, or there are cases in which only children live in the form of living in the boarding house. And there are also indications of new changes that Han Chinese people fill the vacancy left by the ethnic Koreans.
Focusing on these circumstances, this thesis examined the narration aspects of the novels by the ethnic Korean writers after the 1990s, particularly with regard to the education problems of their children caused by the absence of parents. Specifically, the problematic aspects such as problem behavior caused by emotional instability, mental incapacitation, reinforcement of consumption propensity, severance of the ethnic language were pointed out from the novels, and I attempted to explore the solutions to these problems through the writer’s consciousness represented in the novels. As the result, it was found that there were two perspectives with regard to the emigration of the ethnic Koreans living in China: the positive perspective of regarding it as the pursuit of newer and better life under the tradition of the frontier spirit, and the perspective of not denying such trends, yet of worrying about family breakdown and the dissolution of the ethnic community, and I took note of the exposure of these two relative perspectives conflicting with each other in the novels. The solutions to the education problems of children caused by family breakdown should be found in the directions in which these relative perspectives are compromised, and the essence of the compromise is that the compromise is possible when the advancement of the ethnic Koreans living in China into overseas or big cities is achieved in the direction of contributing to the take-off, rather than to the breakdown, of the community.
