발해사절의 문학 교류와 의미 (Literature Exchange and Meaning of Balhae Envoy)

초록

본 논문은 발해사절의 문학 교류와 의미를 살펴보고자 작성하였다. 漢詩는 문학의 精髓로 발해 문학이 도달한 수준을 가늠케 하는 표석의 역할을 한다는 점에서, 모노가타리는 역사상 이야기나 설화 이야기 등도 포괄하고 있다는 점에서 교류의 실상을 규명하는 데 중요하다. 이 두 키워드에 중점을 두면서 사람, 물자, 지식과 정보의 교류라는 측면에서 검토해 보았다.
먼저 시문의 경우 당과의 사이에는 발해인들이 당시 일급의 문인들과 교류를통해 문화적 동질성을 점차 키워 가고 있다는 점을 살펴보았다. 이들 사이에는 국가를 넘어선 정서적 교감과 문화적 상호 인식이 점차 나타나기 시작하는데, 이러한상호 교감과 인식은 9세기에 접어들어 문화적 동일 의식의 증대와 개별 문인들의지적 교류를 가능하게 하는 기반으로 작용하였음을 확인하였다.
일본과의 한시교류를 통해, 왕효렴을 비롯한 양태사, 석정소 등의 발해 지식인의 존재를 확인할 수 있고, 이들 지식인 사절단에 대한 당시 일본 조정의 인식 또한 알 수 있었다. 칙찬한시집에 수록된 발해사절 관련 시를 통해 사료만으로는 확인할 수 없는 사절단의 다양한 면면과 활약을 구체적이고 생생하게 확인할 수 있었다. 이들 발해사절의 문학적 역량은 당시 문장을 국가경영의 대업으로 삼았던사가 조정에 의해 높게 평가되었기 때문에 이들과 관련된 시가 3대 칙찬한시집에골고루 실리게 된 것이 아닐까 여겨진다.
다음으로 모노가타리의 경우 단순히 허구의 내용뿐 아니라, 역사상 이야기나설화 이야기 등도 포괄한다는 점에 주안을 두고 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 우쓰호모노가타리와 겐지모노가타리 모두 발해인들의 한문학 능력에 대한 인정･존경과발해산 모피 특히 검은담비에 대한 강렬한 인상이 역사적 사실을 반영하고 있음을알 수 있었다. 아울러 겐지모노가타리에는 조로아스터교에서 연유하는 관상 관련 지식도 엿보임을 확인하였다.
결국 시문과 모노가타리는 동아시아 교류의 생생한 현장을 사람(발해사절+α), 물자(모피), 지식 및 정보(한문학, 관상술 등)면에서 보여준다는 점에 의의가 크다고 할 수 있다

영어초록

This paper was written to examine the literary exchange and meaning of the Balhae envoy. Given that Chinese poetry serves as a milestone in Balhae literature to gauge the level at which literature has reached, Monogatari is important in clarifying the reality of exchanges in that it also encompasses stories and narrative stories in history. Focusing on these two keywords, I reviewed it in terms of the exchange of people, goods, and knowledge and information.
First, in the case of poetry, it was examined that Balhae people were gradually developing cultural homogeneity through exchanges with the first-class writers at the time. Emotional interaction and cultural interception beyond the state gradually began to appear between them, and it was confirmed that these interactions and perceptions served as the basis for increasing cultural identity and intellectual exchange of individual writers in the 9th century.
Through literary exchanges with Japan, the existence of Balhae intellectuals such as Wang Hyo-ryeom, Yang Tae-sa, and Seok Jeong-so could be confirmed, and the perception of the Japanese court of these intellectuals at the time was also known. Through the poems related to the Balhae envoy included in the imperial collections of Chinese poems, it was possible to confirm the various aspects and activities of the delegation in detail and vividly, which could not be confirmed with only historical sources. It is believed that the literary capabilities of these Balhae envoys were highly regarded by the Saga court, which made sentences a great task of state management at the time, so they were evenly published in the three imperial collections of Chinese poems.
Next, in the case of Monogatari, the focus was on the fact that it encompasses not only fictional content but also stories and tales in history.
Through this, it can be seen that both Utsuho Monogatari and Genji Monogatari reflect historical facts in the recognition and respect of the Balhae people for their ability in Chinese literature, and the strong impression of Balhae fur, especially the sable. In addition, it was confirmed that Kenji Monogotari also showed knowledge related to the coronation derived from Zoroastrianism.
In the end, poetry and monogatari are significant in that they show vivid scenes of East Asian exchanges in terms of people(Balhae Envoy+α), goods(fur), knowledge and information(Chinese literature, physiognomy, etc.)
