    초록

Sequence novel(連作小說) is a name of the genre that had appearedtemporarily in the 1920~30s in the middle of the differentiationphenomenon of the children’s narratives. Sequence novel(連作小說) is aunique type of novel where many authors carry on one piece in a relayform and publish the story.
The sequence novel appears for the first time with the piece called「Honghannoksu」being published in the Maeilshinbo in 1926. It can befound out that the sequence novel is a creative form that had beenwelcomed by the readers being introduced beforehand in Japan throughthe preview of the 「Honghannoksu」. The writing method is done bythe writing staff not discussing together and write each round in a relayform. This is different from the sequence novels in these days whereeach short pieces get together based on the segmentation and therepeated forms. These creation technique of repeated forms plays a roleon complementing the aesthetic completion of the piece, and increasesthe creative powers of the authors, and demonstrates motivationalforces for the readers to participate more actively on the pieces. However when the authors could not discuss to get to a point, problemsarose in the descriptive compositions and the novels had to stayunfinished.
The sequence novels that could be found in the children’s magazineswere about five pieces such as 「5 Friends」that had been published in『Children』, 「Burnt Village」that had been published in 『NewJuvenile』, and 「Old Teacher」that had been published in 『Star Land』. If we take a look at the staff of the authors that had participated inwriting the sequence novels, the authors of the 「5 Friends」wereformed by ‘Saekdonghoe’ the important staff of the 『Children』, andthe authors of the 「Burnt Villag」were also formed by main staff of the『New Juvenile』. This organization of authors can be understood thatthey had the intention of planning to secure the popular appeal bytrying to make famous authors participate through the method ofsequence novels.
The characteristic that came into view through the sequence novel isthat the characters and incidents got focused again by each authors. Through the re-focus approach three-dimensional illumination oncharacters became possible in a natural way, and the delivery methodof incidents happened in a multilateral way adding vitality to thenovels. In the children’s literary world in the 1920s there were manychildren’s stories and novels being published but it wasn’t easy to findpieces with high artistic perfection except for a few work by someauthors like Bang Jeong Hwan. So as a result it is considered that thesequence novel has contributed in the development of the children’snarratives that couldn’t get out of the stalemate in literary value. Though there are limits without any completed pieces, but the sequencemethod with many authors writing together to make one piece hascontributed in the artistic development of the children’s literature.
