고악보 소재 <평조 보허자> 비교 연구 (A Comparative study on Korean traditional ancient score )

초록

본 연구에서는 『낭옹신보』(1728)․『소영집성』(1822)․『현학금보』(1852)․『오희상금보』(1852)를 중심으로 현재 전승이 단절된 <평조 보허자>의 주법과 선율을 살펴, 전승 양상을 고찰하였다.
<평조 보허자>의 주법과 선율은 『낭옹신보』․『현학금보』가 동일한 부분이 많은 것에 비하여 『소영집성』은 두 악보와 상이하다. 상이선율의 변화 양상은 ‘박 분할․음 변화․문현(文絃) 변화․청현(淸絃) 변화․옥타브 관계 진행․4도 관계 진행 ’등이 복합적으로 나타난다. 한 옥타브 관계를 보이는 상이선율을 통해 <평조 보허자>에서는 우조 악곡을 4도 아래로의 변조 및 이를 한 옥타브 올린 5도 위로의 변조가 선택적으로 활용되었음을 알 수 있다.
『소영집성』의 <평조 보허자>는 문현과 청현 주법이 통일성있게 사용된 것으로 보아 다른 악보들보다 거문고 음악의 특징적인 모습이 잘 드러나 있다. 또한 『소영집성』의 <보허자>는 우조와 평조 악곡을 병기하여, 두 악곡이 상호 영향을 주기에 매우 적합하며, <우조 보허자>와 <평조 보허자>의 문현․청현 주법이 동일한 위치에 출현하는 경우가 많다. 이러한 점으로 보아 『소영집성』의 <평조 보허자>는 『낭옹신보』의 선율에 기초하여 우조 악곡의 영향을 받아 문현 변화․청현 변화․박 분할 등의 변화 양상을 보이면서 형성되었음을 짐작할 수 있다.
『낭옹신보』와 『소영집성』, 그리고 『소영집성』과 『현학금보』는 동일선율의 비율이 적은 반면에, 『낭옹신보』와 『현학금보』는 동일선율 비율이 높을 뿐만 아니라 미세한 차이를 보이는 상이선율까지를 유사선율로 본다면 두 악보의 <평조 보허자>는 매우 유사하다. 따라서 <평조 보허자>는 『낭옹신보』와 『현학금보』의 편찬 연대가 130여년의 차이를 보임에도 불구하고 선율진행이 유사한 반면, 『현학금보』보다 30년 앞선 『소영집성』은 『낭옹신보』와 다른 양상을 보인다. 이와 같은 사실은 『낭옹신보』․『현학금보』와 『소영집성』의 <평조 보허자>가 서로 다른 풍류 집단에 의하여 연주되었던 음악으로 추정할 수 있다.
18~19세기의 <평조 보허자>는 『낭옹신보』에 처음 수록된 후, 『소영집성』에서는 매우 다채로운 모습을 보이지만, 『현학금보』에 이르러서는 『낭옹신보』에 비하여 더 이상 크게 변화된 모습이 드러나지 않는다. 이와 같은 현상은 김성기에 의하여 처음 만들어진 <평조 보허자>가 18~19세기 풍류방에서 『소영집성』 편자 등을 포함한 일부 풍류객들에 의하여 악곡의 음악적 측면이 세련되게 다듬어지기도 하였으나, 그 밖의 풍류객들로부터는 큰 관심을 얻지 못하면서 전승되지 못한 것으로 보인다.

영어초록

This study examines the traditional aspects of <Pyeongjo Boheoja>, of which the transmission of tradition has been severed, by comparing 『Nangongsinbo』(1728), 『So youngjibseong』(1882), 『Hyeonhakgeumbo』(1852), and 『Ohhuisanggeumbo』(1852), in order to review the playing method and melody of <Pyeongjo Boheoja>

<Pyeongjo Boheoja> of 『Nangongsinbo』․『Hyeonhakgeumbo』 have many of the same playing methods and melodies, while 『Soyoungjibseong』 are composed of unmatching melodies. In unmatching melodies, rhythm division, tone change, Moonhyeon change, Cheonghyeon change, octave relationship progress, 4th relationship progress are appeared complexly. It can be seen that the <Pyeongjo Boheoja> is composed of a harmonious combination of the 4th degree below and 5th degrees up of the modulation tone of Ujo music through octave progressing of unmatching melodies.




<Pyeongjo Boheoja> of 『Soyoungjibseong』 indicates a distinctive feature of geomungo music than the other scores because the Moonhyeon and Cheonghyeon playing methods were used in a unified manner compared to <Pyeongjo Boheoja> of 『Nangongsinbo』 and 『Hyeonhakgeumbo』. In addition, since <Boheoja> of 『Soyoungjibseong』 takes the form of a combination of Ujo and Pyeongjo song, the two songs are very suitable for mutual influence. In particular, because the Moonhyeon and Cheonghyeon playing methods appear frequently in the same part of Ujo and Pyeongjo <Boheoja>, the <Pyeongjo Boheoja> of 『Soyoungjibseong』 was formed by showing the changing pattern, such as Moonhyeon changing, Cheonhyeon changing, and rhythm division, under the influence of the Ujo music based on the 『Nangongsinbo』 melody.




The <Pyeongjo Boheoja> of 『Nangongsinbo』, 『Hyeonhakgeumbo』 is very similar since the ratio of matching melodies between two scores are high even if slightly unmatching melodies are considered as a similarity melodies, while the ratio of matching melodies between 『Nangongsinbo』, 『Soyoungjibseong』 and 『Soyoungjibseong』, 『Hyeonhakgeumbo』 is low. Therefore, among the ancient scores including the <Pyeongjo Boheoja>, while melody progress of 『Nangongsinbo』 and 『Hyeonhakgeumbo』 are similar although compilation time of two scores are different by 130 years, the 『Soyoungjibseong』, which is 30 years ahead of 『Hyeonhakgeumbo』, is different compared to 『Nangongsinbo』. This fact is presumed that the <Pyeongjo Boheoja> of 『Soyoungjibseong』 and 『Hyeonhakgeumbo』 are played by different groups.




These <Pyeongjo Boheoja> of the 18th and 19th centuries were first recorded in the 『Nangongsinbo』 and then varied in the 『Soyoungjibseong』. However, the <Pyeongjo Boheoja> of 『Hyeonhakgeumbo』 did not reveal much more changes than the 『Nangongsinbo』. This phenomenon is reason why that the <Pyeongjo Boheoja>, which known as first made by Kim Sung-Ki, have refined by few elegant people in the 18th and 19th centuries, however, it could not be transmitted because of getting much attention from other people.
