초록

I have studied about Koh Whang-Kyung's study, activities, consideration during Japanese Rule Period. Koh Whang-Kyung was one of best intellectual and third Ph. D. as Korean woman. She had groped her way to conribute to Korean society through study and experience. Korean society, people, women, christianity and modernization was factor of her world view. She was tried to materialize her vision through social work. She was constantly interested in social welfare organs, facilities and service during stay abroad. After returning home, her these modern civilization experience had influenced her social activities.
In 1937, she had started to participate pro-Japanese organization and to serve her social work, Kyung Seong Ja Mae Won. She had expansioned her work. At the same time she urged to support and establish social welfare organs and facilities on the space of magazines. She could continue her work by modifying it adjust to Japanese government's social policy. So her pro-Japanese activity was inevitable, and this was her limit and fault.
Although the purpose of advance her people's life and Korean society was good, the means of her pro Japanese activity can not be justified. But it was real heart that she had tried to realize her learning, experience, Christian service spirit, social consciousness and sense of responsibility through her social work.
Her social work was village welfare work and cultural work pointing education, enlightenment, preservation of health. Moreover it was women's work to solve the problem of women by women.
