초록

Even though John Calvin was called mainly for a famous Syste- matic Theologian before the 20th century, he was, in fact, a very faithful-devotional pastor, and also a great Preacher as prominent bi- blical exegete.
Calvin never forgot his self-identity as Pastor, while he did the ministrial works continuously in Geneva and Straßbourg from 1536 unto 1564. Therefore Professor E. A. McKee, worldly wide known scholar about Calvin. insisted that ‘Calvin as Pastor’ would be the most important task to study on him in future.
It seems to me that MacKee's assertion would be proved true by the fact that Calvin sought the ‘Soli Deo gloria’, and also was very interested in both ‘Pastoral Preaching’ and ‘Doctrinal Preaching’ in his lifelong ministry. In accordance with MacKee’s Proposal, I will discuss and evaluate both Calvin's basic pastoral principle and his Pastoral works in this thesis as following: first of all, dealt with the concerned problem. In the second chapter the following three points of Calvin’s ministry: firstly, Calvin’s basic pastoral principle to persue a balance between knowledge and piety. secondly, Calvin’s Pas- toral Works in Geneva and Straßbourg(1536-1564). thirdly, Calvin’s real ministry in detail from on the first, March unto the sixth, April, 1556. In the third and fourth chapter will be discussed and evaluated Calvin's ‘Pastoral Preaching’ and ‘Doctrinal Preaching’. Conclusio- nally, in the fifth chapter the above mentioned two forms of Calvin’s Preaching will be pointed out for the desirable ‘church-community formation’ of the Korean Church in the 21th century.
