초록

成海應(1760~1839)은 우리나라 서화사에 뚜렷한 업적을 남긴 인물을 두루 망라하여 「書畵雜誌」 110제를 저술한 바 있는데, ‘18세기 조선’의 서화를 중심으로, 서화가의 인적사항, 시문과 화풍의 특징, 시문과 화풍의 연관성, 서화와 관련된 일화, 사승관계에 대해 간략하면서도 적실하게 기록하였다. 南公轍(1760~1840)은 서화와 금석에 남다른 관심과 취향을 가지고 있었으며, 그 결과 「書畵跋尾」 116제를 저술하였다. 작품의 진위 여부, 작품을 감상하고 수장하게 된 이유, 창작 경위, 표현 기법 등에 대한 기록으로, 116제 모두 중국 서화에 대한 제발이라는 점에서, 당시 조선에 유행한 중국 중심의 서화 감상과 비평의 일 양상을 확인할 수 있다. 성해응은 작가나 작품의 진위 여부를 고증하고 자신이 알고 있던 사실과 다를 경우 여러 가지 자료를 참고하고 전거를 확인하여 사실에 근거한 객관적인 글쓰기를 지향하였으며, 남공철 또한 중국의 문헌을 두루 열독하고 인용근거를 밝힘으로써, 자신의 기록에 신뢰를 더하였다. 그런 만큼 이 두 자료는 서화감상과 비평이라는 한 개인의 주관적인 기록임에도 비교적 사실적이고 객관적인 기록이라고 평가할 수 있다. 따라서 문학뿐만 아니라 서예 · 회화 · 미학 · 역사 등 인접학문에 중요한 정보를 제공하는 만큼 일차 자료로서의 활용도가 크다. 또, 이들은 당대 유명한 서화가들과 폭넓은 교유를 하고 다양한 學藝인물에 대한 기록을 제시함으로써, 18~19세기 당대의 문화와 예술에 대한 유용한 정보를 제공하기도 하였다.

영어초록

In late Chosun, writer appreciated the paintings and calligraphy and wrote Jaebal(The brief memo on the back of the paintings and calligraphy) as it is widespread that people owned and appreciated the paintings and calligraphy around noble family in Seoul. In particular, Sung Haeeung(1760~1839) and Nam Gongcheol(1760~1840) wrote large quantity of Jaebal, published a separate volume of 「Seahwazapzi」and 「Seahwabalmi」 respectively.
Sung Haeeung had a unique taste and vision on the paintings and calligraphy from a very young age under the influence of tradition of his family, as a result he recorded 「Seahwazapzi」110 chapter by comprising various kinds of people who left a footprint on the history of paintings and calligraphy in Korea. 「Seahwazapzi」was based on the ‘penmanship[書]’ in 18 Century of Chosun, reordered briefly and sincerely about significant feature of personal information of writer of the paintings and calligraphy, characteristics of the poetry and prose the brush, the connection of poetry and prose the brush, episodes related to the paintings and calligraphy, and relationship of master and disciple.
Nam Gongcheol who was under the influence of his father from a very young age, had a unique interests and tastes, as a result he recorded 「Seahwabalmi」116 chapter. It is the record of the authenticity of the work, the reason to appreciate and own, the life of author, motive to create work, representation techniques. Apart from 「Seahwazapzi」, all of 116 chapters were about Chinese writer of paintings and calligraphy and Jaebal of Chinese paintings and calligraphy thus it is important to identify the pattern of appreciation and critic of painting and calligraphy on the basis of Chinese paintings and calligraphy which were prevailed in Chosun at that time.
On the other hand, Sung Haeeung aimed to write realistic and objective by referring and historical research to distinguish authenticity of the work and writer. Nam Gongcheol studied various kinds of Chinese literature and revealed the ground of citation to consolidate the trust of his record. Therefore these two materials can be evaluated as a relatively realistic and objective record despite of fact that appreciative criticism of paintings and calligraphy
Therefore, it is useful for a primary data as it provides important information on adjoining study such as a literature calligraphy, aesthetic, painting, and history. In addition, Sung Haeeung and Nam Gongcheol interchanged with famous artists for paintings and calligraphy of the era by offering the record on various literates, supplies useful information on culture and art between 18C and early 19C.
