    초록

    This study considered the melody of Habin Farm Song, focusing on its system of tonal structure and its composition. The system of tonal structure is concerned with the pitch, interval and the relation between notes. It employed the structure of Nucleus by C. Sachs and the principle of Hauptton by R. Lachmann. As for the structure of melody, the Type of Korean Folk Song Melody by Kim, Jin-Gyun was applied to the outline of melody for analysis.
    There are songs in unison nucleus structure that are not yet melodized. It can be translated that farmers were not so composed as to sing a song due to the character of the work. There is a song in second nucleus structure and in third nucleus structure respectively. The song in second nucleus structure can be regarded as the process the unison nucleus structure is becoming melodized at last. The third nucleus structure tends to expand to fourth nucleus structure. The fourth nucleus structure, which is applied most frequently to The Song, accompanies in many cases added second or third, and passing third and second in fourth. In the process, the upward scale of 'Mi-Ra-Do' shows the characteristics of Menaritori well that 'Sol' is used as a passing tone in the downward scale of 'Do-Ra-Sol-Mi'. Fifth nucleus structure is applied once to Habin Farm Song and characterized by the scale of Eosayongtori that has been handed down in part of Gyeongsang Province and Chungcheong Province.
    As for the Kim's Type of Melody, the rate of what is appliable and inapplicable to the outline of melody in Habin Farm Song is 17:17. The type of melody most frequently applied to Korean folk song melody is the fifth type, applied 9 times, that goes minor third upward and downward before going major second upward and downward. The next frequently applied is the type that goes perfect fourth upward before going major second downward. The structure of melody is characterized by the dynamism to jump upward by perfect fourth and the stability to go downward by major second. Out of the excluded from the Kim's Type of Melody, the most frequent is the one that goes major second downward before going minor third downward. Most of the songs in Habin Farm Song have the outline of melody that sets out from the highest tone, rough and strong, in an octave and descends gradually to the soft lowest tone. This type of melody is grounded on the Theory of Pathogenic Melody. Treatment of folk song is very significant job as it can be a means to grasp and understand the culture and the whole society as well as the music of the nation. It is desirable to make approach to the comparative analysis between farming songs, and the relation between music and labor, story and foundational culture comprehensively.
