유가(儒家)의 음(音)사유체계에서 나타나는여음(餘音)담론의 단서 (The Clue of Ambience Sound of Music theory of Confucianism)

초록

이 글은 동아시아 유가(儒家)에서 논하고 있는 음(音), 그리고 이것이 은유하고 있는 특수한 사유 체계를 조망하려고 한다. 이를 좀 더 효과적으로 접근하기 위해 유가의 사상에서 드러나는 독특한 특징들을 서구 근대음악론들과 비교해보며 논술하고자 하는데, 이것을 통해 궁극적으로 동양 음악 문화 속에 존재하는 독특한 담론들 중에 하나인 여음(餘音, ambience)의 존재 근저들을 밝히고자 하는 것이다. 주지하듯 유가의 우주론과음의 관계는 도덕적인 역할과 현실적 인간의 긴장 단계를 상호보완적으로 보완하기 위한 도구적 장치로 간주되고 있다. 천인합일(天人合一)적 자연관에 녹아들어있는 음(音) 생성론은 자연히 인성론으로 연결되며, 결과적으로는 인간의 본성자체를 조명하려고 하는 것이다. 그러한 과정에서 개별적으로 남아있는 개인성과 음의이면적 성질을 은유하는 유음(遺音)이라는 개념이 도출됨을 주목할 필요가 있다. 유음은 개인의 사밀성을 우회적으로 언급하는 것이다. 음의 근원자체를 인간의 심성에서 발동하고 공명되는 소리로 정의 내린다는 점에서 강력히 작용하는 개인성의 자유의지를 함유시키고 있는 것이다. 이때 여음은 자신의 사밀적 내부에서 알맞게 적절히 향유하고 변주되는 무규정적 움직임이다. 또 수용 미학적 측면에서 그것은 각각의 개인이 내재된무의식속에서 미세한 느낌들을 결합시키는 인식작용을 한다.
여전히 이성주의와 기술문명 속에서 여음은 존재론적으로, 인식론적으로 불명확한 상태에 놓여 졌기 때문에언급을 회피하거나 배제되기 쉬운 대상이었다. 하지만 우리는 동양의 전통 사유 중 매우 영향력 있게 적용되는 유가사상에서 암시되는 여음의 정체에 대해 올바로 규명해야 할 것이다.

영어초록

This article is intended to survey the sound(音) being discussed in East Asian Confucianism(儒 家) and the special thinking system of its metaphorical expression. In order to approach this more effectively, it is going to compare and discuss the unique features revealed in the ideas of Confucianism(儒家) with Western modern musical theories, ultimately aiming to reveal the basis of the existence of ambience(餘音), which is one of the unique discussions in the oriental music culture. In fact, the ambience(餘音) has always been inherent in the music and has been performed across the ages and in all countries of the world. As is well known, the relationship between the cosmology and the sound(音) in the Confucianism(儒家) is regarded as a tool for complementing moral roles and realistic human tensions complementarily. The theory of the generation of the sound(音) in a view of nature of the unity of heaven and man(天人合一) connects to the original purpose of the habit of human nature theory, referring to the relationship between the tone and note(聲音) and the human’s inherent mind(心) and shedding light on human nature. In here, it is worth noting that the notion of the remaining sound(遺音) which is metaphor for the hidden nature of the sound that remains separately is derived from such a process. The remaining sound(遺音) refers to the privacy of individuals indirectly. It contains a free will of personalities strongly acted in th at the source of the sound itself is defined as the sound that is originally triggered and resonated in the human mind. The ambience(餘音) is the unrestricted movement of the sound that is enjoyed and played properly and appropriately within one’s own privacy at this time. In addition, in the point of view of reception aesthetics, it has a cognitive function that combines subtle feelings in the subconscious inherent to each individual.
Since the ambience(餘音) is still in an unclear state ontologically and epistemologically in the rationalism and the technical civilization, it has been an object that was easy to avoid being mentioned or to be excluded. However, we should study the identity of the ambience(餘音) implied in the ideas of Confucianism(儒家) that is very influential among Eastern traditional thinking ways.
