역사적 사건의 재창조 방식에 대한 일 고찰, <육염기(六艶記)> 연구 (A study on the method of recreating historical events, )

초록

본 연구는 <육염기>에서 확인되는 서사의 불연속성을 해결하고 일대기가 나열되는 서사 구성 방식의 의미를 고찰하고자 하였다. <육염기>는 정난지변을 제재로 하며, 이 사건의 주요 인물들을 조명한다. 이때 전반부 서사는 서달의 일대기가, 후반부 서사는 여섯 딸과 남편의 일대기가 옴니버스 형식으로 펼쳐진다. 이때 전·후반부의 서사가 단절되는 양상이 나타나는데, 이러한 서사 구성을 해명하기 위해 본 논문은 예언에 주목하였다.
전반부 서사는 서달의 일대기를 다루면서도 정작 서달이 현달하는 과정은 주목하지 않는다. 즉, 서달이 주원장을 도와 천하를 통일하는 과정은 간략히 서술된다. 그 대신 <육염기>는 신인의 예언을 통해 육염의 운명을 구체화하는데 서술의 초점을 둔다. 여섯 딸의 운명은 옥황상제의 조회, 와ᇰ씨의 꿈, 노승의 상법 보는 장면을 통해 서사가 진행될수록 구체화 되며 후반부 서사에서 실현된다. 이를 고려하면 <육염기>의 옴니버스식 서사는 예언을 통해 연결되는 것으로 이해할 수 있다.
한편 후반부 서사는 여섯 딸의 일대기를 각각 다루는데, 육염의 일대기를 서술하는 과정에서 남편과 관련한 일화가 서술된다. 이때 제시된 일화를 통해 각 인물의 입장을 확인할 수 있다는 점에 주목할 필요가 있다. 이러한 서술을 통해 작품은 정난지변이라는 역사적 사건이 아니라 이에 연루된 개인을 강조하기 때문이다. 사건과 연관된 인물에게 새로운 서사를 부여하고, 이들을 개별적으로 조명하고 있는 것이다. 그 결과 서술의 초점이 개인에게 놓이며 이 과정에서 <육염기>는 정난지변에 관련된 다양한 입장을 수용한다.
아울러 후반부 서사에서도 천명이 강조된다. 작품은 등장인물 행동의 이유를 천명에서 찾고 있는데, 이에 따라 <육염기>에 등장하는 정난지변과 관련된 인물들은 모두 천명이라는 당위성을 갖는다. 결국 각 인물의 행동은 마땅한 이유가 있고, 천명에 따른 필연적인 결말을 맞이하게 되었다는 것이다. 그 결과 <육염기>는 정난지변을 천명에 따라 일어날 수밖에 없었던 필연적인 사건으로 이해하게 된다. 요컨대 <육염기>는 정난지변이라는 역사적 사건에 대해 개인을 조명하는 방식으로 이해하고, 이를 서사화한 작품이다.

영어초록

This study attempted to solve the discontinuity of the narrative confirmed in <Yukyeomgi> and to examine the meaning of the narrative composition method in which the story is arranged. <Yukyeomgi> uses the Jeongnanjibyeon as a sanction and illuminates the main characters of this case. At this time, the first half of the narrative unfolds in the form of an omnibus, and the second half of the narrative unfolds in the form of a life story of six daughters and husbands. At this time, the front and second half of the narratives are cut off, and to explain this narrative composition, attention was paid to prophecy.
The first half of the narrative deals with the story of xuda(徐達) but does not pay attention to the process of his enlightenment. The process of unifying the world by helping Juwonjang is briefly described. Instead, the work focuses on the description of the fate of six daughters through the prophecy of the god. The fate of the six daughters is embodied and realized in the second half of the narrative through the scenes of inquiring about the Jade Emperor, the dreams of Wang, and seeing an old priest's commercial law. Considering this, it can be understood that the omnibus-style narrative of <Yukyeomgi> is connected through prophecy.
On the other hand, the second half of the narrative deals with each of the six daughters' life stories, and an anecdote related to the husband is described in the process of describing the life story of Yukyeom. It is worth noting that each character's position can be confirmed through the anecdote presented at this time. This is because, through this description, the work emphasizes the individual involved in the Jeongnanji Incident, not the historical event. It gives a new narrative to the characters related to the event and illuminates them individually. As a result, the focus of the description is on the individual, and in this process, <Yukyeomgi> accepts various positions related to the Jingnan Campaign.
In addition, ‘Cheonmyeong[天命]’ was emphasized in the later narrative. The work is looking for the reason for the character's behavior in ‘Cheonmyeong[天命]. In the end, each character's actions have a good reason, and they have an inevitable ending according to ‘Cheonmyeong[天命]’. As a result, <Yukyeomgi> is understood as an inevitable event that had to occur according to ‘Cheonmyeong[天命]’. In short, <Yukyeomgi> is a work that understands historical events in a way that illuminates individuals and narrates them.
