월정교 ․ 춘양교로 본 신라 왕경의 교량과 월성 이남 개발 양상 (Bridges in the Silla's Royal Capital and Development of Southern Wolseong (月城) viewed from the Woljeonggyo and Chunyanggyo Bridge Sites)

초록

본고는 신라 왕경 내의 교량과 그 속에 포함된 월정교 ․ 춘양교의 의미와 역할, 더 나아가 월성이남지역의 대지개발 양상에 대한 시론적인 고찰이다. 먼저 문헌자료 및 고지도를 통해 신라 왕경 내 교량(금교, 귀교 등)의 위치를 간략하게 추정하였다. 또한 현재 왕경 내에서 확인되는 교량은대부분 남천변에 집중되어 있음을 주목해 보았다. 이러한 현상이 확인되는 이유는 북천이 하상계수가 높은 하천이기 때문으로 보았다. 즉 유량이 안정적으로 흐르는 남천과 달리 북천은 임시로 사용되는 섶다리나 부교, 징검다리와 같은 다리만 존재한 것으로 보았다.
다음으로 유이하게 교량의 위치가 확인된 월정교 ․ 춘양교의 축조 기술에 대한 분석을 진행하였다. 여기에서 확인된 특징은 동 시기에 축조된 교량에서 기술적인 차이가 보인다는 점이다. 이러한 차이는 두 교량 간에 위계를 나타내는 것으로 판단하였다. 교량의 위계 차이는 왕과 태자를상징하는 것으로 이해되는데, 두 교량이 축조된 경덕왕대는 태자를 위한 여러 사업들이 활발히진행되었으며, 월정교 ․ 춘양교가 건립된 직후 태자가 책봉되었다. 특히 각 교량의 명칭 또한 왕과 태자를 상징하는 의미가 담겨 있는 점도 유의된다. 따라서 월정교는 왕, 춘양교는 태자를 위한 교량으로 추정하였으며, 월정교와 춘양교는 왕궁역의 구획 및 구조 완성의 의미로 판단하고자 하였다.
두 교량의 축조 시점을 전후로 월성 이남 지역의 재개발 현상이 발굴조사를 통해서 확인되고있다. 예를 들어 인왕동 사지의 완성과 천관사지의 건립, 주변의 여러 도시유적도 이러한 특징이확인되고 있다. 더욱이 탑동의 경우는 무덤군이 파괴되면서 도시가 재개발된 양상이 확인된다. 따라서 월정교 ․ 춘양교 건립시기를 즈음하여 월성 이남 지역은 도시의 확장과 더불어 가로 구획이 정비된 도시가 들어섰을 가능성이 높을 것으로 보인다.
따라서 신라 왕경의 도시발전 도식을 정리하자면 6세기 중 ․ 후엽에 황룡사를 중심으로 하는월성 동북편과 초기 사찰 건립이 중심된 서천변 개발, 남산신성을 위시한 월성 이남 개발 등이 1 단계가 될 것이다. 이후 7세기 후~8세기 초엽에 걸쳐 동궁과 월지, 사천왕사, 전랑지와 더불어 북천 이북까지의 도시계획이 진행되는 2단계, 8세기 중 ․ 후엽 이후 월정교 ․ 춘양교와 월성 이남지역이 재개발되는 3단계로 왕경 발전 단계를 설정하였다.

영어초록

This study is a preliminary analysis of the royal capital of Silla Bridges and the urban development aspects of the southern Wolseong area. This paper is described the meanings and roles of Silla bridges from Woljeonggyo and Chunyanggyo Bridges Sites. First, It is assumed that the locations of bridges (Geumgyo Bridge, Gwigyo Bridge, etc) in the Silla capital by the literature and old maps. It is a noticeable feature which most of Silla capital bridges are located on along the Namcheon River. Because, the Bukcheon River had a high coefficient of flow fluctuation it is assumed that Bukcheon River had led to only simpler crossings such as the temporary bridge or stepping stones, in contrast to the Namcheon River's case.
Next, this study looks into the construction technology by Woljeonggyo and Chunyanggyo Bridge Sites where the locations are confirmed bridges. There is a noticeable feature, different construction technologies are found among the same period bridges. This is understood that the two bridges have a different hierarchy. This gap is thought to symbolize the king and the crown prince. During the reign of King Gyeongdeok, were carried out various projects for the crown prince and the crown prince was appointed to set after the completion of Woljeonggyo and Chunyanggyo Bridge. Especially, it is noticeable feature each bridge's name also contains symbolic meaning of the king and the crown prince.
Therefore, it is assumed that Woljeonggyo Bridge is for the king and Chunyanggyo Bridge is for the crown prince. The construction of two bridges is understood that were completed the sections and structures of the royal palace.
It is found that the redevelopment aspect of the southern Wolseong area was around the time of the two bridges' construction. For example, it appeared this feature that the completion of the Inwang-dong temple site, the Cheongwansa temple construction and several urban sites excavation. Moreover, in the case of Tap-dong is surveyed which the tomb group was destroyed before the urban redevelopment by the excavation of this area. It could be understood that the street organization and the urban expansion in the southern Wolseong area, during the construction of the Woljeong Bridge and Chunyang Bridge.
To summarize the urban development in the Silla capital, the first stage centres on the three place developments in the mid to late 6th century, the Hwangnyongsa Temple construction in the northeastern area of Wolseong, the early temples in the Seocheon riverside and the southern Wolseong with Namsansinseong Fortress. The second stage is the urban expansion until the north side of Bukcheon River in the late 7th century to the early 8th century with the places of Sacheonwangsa Temple, Seongdong-dong Jeolangji and Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond. At last, the third stage of the Silla capital could be the redevelopment in the southern Wolseong area with Woljeong Bridge, and Chunyang Bridge construction.
