원불교 마음공부 모델 연구 (A Study on the Model of Mindful Practice of Won-Buddhism)

초록

원불교 마음공부는 우리의 본성인 일원(一圓)의 진리를 그 출발점으로 삼고 있다. 공부는 진공묘유의 수행문과 인과보응의 신앙문을 통해 진행된다. 그리고 정신개벽을 통해 정신과 물질이 잘 조화된 낙원세계를 목적으로 한다. 원불교 사상의 근간이 되는 일원상 진리의 양면성은 그대로 마음의 분별(分別)에 따라 동과 정의 두 측면으로 드러나며, 이를 정시공부와 동시공부의 두 방향에서 마음공부의 공부법이 제시될 수 있다. 이를 본성-현상 모델로 제시하여 마음공부의 기본형으로 삼을 수 있다. 또한, 일원상 진리는 세 가지 속성인 공(空), 원(圓), 정(正)으로 설명이 가능하다. 이에 따라 진공묘유의 수행문을 정신수양, 사리연구, 작업취사의 삼학으로 분립이 가능하며, 이는 마음공부의 세 측면을 이룬다. 이를 본성-현상-작용의 모델로 제시할 수 있다. 나아가 원불교 마음공부에서 인과보응의 신앙문의 역할이 또한 중요하다. 이는 기존의 마음공부 모델을 확장 측면에서뿐만 아니라, 마음공부의 조건이 되는 관계적 측면, 환경적 측면에서 고려되어야 한다. 즉 마음의 동한 면, 혹은 실행 측면은 그것이 확장되면, 가족, 친우 등 주변의 인간관계 및 사회적, 생태적 관계에까지 그 공부의 영향이 미치게 된다. 그 결과는 다시 인과의 이치에 따라 다시 마음공부의 조건(환경)으로서 경계를 형성한다. 그러므로 이것도 마음공부의 모델에서 중요하게 다룰 필요가 있다. 이에 진공묘유의 수행문에 인과보응의 신앙문까지 포괄한 확장형으로서 본성-현상-작용-관계 모델이 제시되었다.
이상의 마음공부 모델을 통해 일상의 경계 속에서 마음을 잘 이해하고, 잘 지키고, 잘 사용함으로써 자신과 세상을 더 잘 이해하고 변화시키는 데, 좀 더 체계적이고 효과적인 활용이 가능하게 될 것이다.

영어초록

The mindful practice of Won Buddhism is based on the truth of Il-Won, that is our true nature. The practices are conducted through the Gateway of Practice based on True Voidness and Marvelous Existence and the Gateway of Faith based on Retribution and Response of Cause and Effect. Moreover, it aims for a paradise world where spiritual civilization and material civilization are well harmonized through the Great Opening of spirit.
The two sides of the truth of Il-Won-Sang, which is the basis of Won Buddhism's ideology, are revealed in two aspects according to the discernment of the mind as it is, and the method of mindful practice can be presented in two directions: the practice in rest and the practice in action. All mindful practices can take these two directions as the basic form, which is a model of nature-phenomena.
In addition, the truth of Il-Won-Sang can be explained by three attributes: Emptiness, Fullness, and Rightness. Accordingly, it is possible to classify the Gateway of Practice based on True Voidness and Marvelous Existence into threefold Study: Cultivation the Spirit, Inquiry into Human Affairs and Universal Principles, and Choice in Action. It constitutes three aspects of practice. This can be presented as a model of nature-phenomena-action.
Furthermore, the role of the Gateway of Faith based on Retribution and Response of Cause and Effect in mindful practice is also essential. This should be considered in the expansion of the basic model of mindful practice and in terms of relationship and environment that are conditions of mindful practice.
In other words, in terms of the dynamic side of the mind, or the side of execution, if it is expanded, the influence of the practice must be taken into account, even the relationship with the surrounding human relations such as family and friends, and the social and ecological environment. The result again forms the sensory condition of our mindful practice according to the principle of cause and effect, which also needs to be considered crucial in the model of mindful practice. Thus, a model of nature-phenomena-action-relation is presented as an extension that included the Gateway of Practice and the Gateway of Faith.
Through the model of mindful practice, a more systematic and practical application will be possible to better understand and change oneself and the world by understanding, keeping, and using the mind well within daily life conditions.
