공간 이론에 기반한 애니메이션 캐릭터의 성장 서사에 관한 연구 - <웅사소년>을 중심으로 - (A Study of Character Growth in Animation Based on Spatial Theory -focusing on‘I Am What I Am’-)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 앙리 르페브르가 제시한 공간 이론을 근거로 2021년 상영한 중국 장편 애니메이션<웅사소년>을 사례로 선정해 <웅사소년> 속 주변인 집단에 속한 주인공 아줸의 성장 과정에 나타난 자아 정체성 구축과 자아 실현 과정을 탐구하였다. 본 연구는 공간적 실천, 공간 재현, 재현 공간등 세 가지 차원의 공간을 중심으로 캐릭터의 성장과 변화를 고찰함으로써 <웅사소년>에서 반영하는주변인 집단이 직면하고 있는 현실적 어려움을 제시하였다. 먼저 물리적 공간의 관점에서 주인공이 시골 공간과 도시 공간에서 일상생활을 분석하였으며, 그의 생존을 사회적 공간 배경을 분석하여 성격형성의 심층적인 원인을 규명하였다. 이어서 정신적 공간의 관점에서 주인공이 사자춤이라는 특정 정신적 공간에서의 성장 과정을 분석하였다. 주요하게 자아의 각성, 자아의 미망, 자아 정체성의 구축의세 단계를 중심으로, 이 과정에서 주인공의 내면 세계 변화, 성장 전환 및 자기 정체성 형성 메커니즘을 탐구하였다. 마지막으로, 사회적 공간의 관점에서 주인공이 개인으로서 가정 공간과 역사적 공간에서 생존하며 이 두 사회적 공간이 주인공의 성장 과정에 어떻게 상호작용하는지를 분석하여, 공간적요인이 인간 성격 형성, 자기 발전 및 사회 통합 과정에서 수행하는 역할을 규명하였다. 본 연구는 애니메이션 <웅사소년>을 통해 사회 계층 분화 속에서 주변인 집단의 자아 정체성 구축과 사회적 통합과정을 분석하였다. 주인공 아줸의 성장 과정을 통해 어려움 속에서도 자아 정체성을 찾아가는 중요성을 강조하며, 사회적 포용과 조화로운 사회 구조의 필요성을 제시하였다. 애니메이션 <웅사소년>에서 보여주는 현실적 문제는 주변인 집단에 대한 사회의 관심을 불러일으켰으며, 주변인 집단의 성장문제에 대한 심도 있는 사고와 해결 방안을 촉진할 수 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to explore the process of identity construction and self-realizationof the protagonist as a marginalised group in the film as he grows up by taking the spatial theoryproposed by Lefebvre as the basis and the theatrical animation I Am What I Am, which wasreleased in China in 2021, as a case study. Through the changes in the character’s growth in thethree dimensions of material space, spiritual space, and social space, the realistic dilemmas facedby the marginalised groups as reflected in the animation work are exposed. This paper firstlyexplores the protagonist’s daily life in the rural space and urban space from the perspective ofmaterial space, analyses the socio-spatial background of his existence, and then reveals thedeep-seated reasons for the formation of his character. Secondly, from the perspective ofspiritual space, it analyses the growth trajectory of the protagonist in the specific spiritual spaceof lion dance. From the three stages of self-awakening, self-confusion to the construction ofself-identity, we explore the changes in the inner world of the protagonist, the transformation ofhis growth, and the mechanism of self-identity construction in this process. Finally, from theperspective of social space, we explore the survival mode of the protagonist as an individual inthe family space and the historical space, and analyse how these two social spaces work togetherin the growth process of the protagonist, so as to reveal the role of spatial factors in theformation of human personality, self-development and social integration. This study analyzes theprocess of self-identity construction and social integration of marginalized groups within thecontext of social class differentiation through the animation I Am What I Am. The protagonistAjun’s growth highlights the importance of finding self-identity despite difficulties andemphasizes the need for social inclusion and a harmonious structure. The realistic issues in I AmWhat I Am raise societal awareness of marginalized groups, promoting deeper reflection andsolutions to their growth challenges.
