길 문화콘텐츠의 생태학적 해석 - 경기옛길을 중심으로 - (Ecological Interpretation of the Way Culture Contents - Focus on the Gyeonggi-yetgil -)

초록

길 걷기가 여행과 건강 등의 중요한 문화콘텐츠로 자리잡았다. 이는 올레길, 둘레길, 숲길 등 각종 지역 브랜드와 명칭의 500여개의 1200여개의 걷는 길 코스가 이를 반증한다. 그러나 길 문화콘텐츠들이 대체로 ‘이 길이 어떤 길인가?’, ‘왜 걷는가?’, ‘누가 걷는가?’, ‘어떻게 걸을 것인가?’와 같은 이런 근본적인 의미의 기능이탑재된 것이 아니라 대체로 막연한 지역관광활성화의 경제성 측면이 더 부각되어보인다.
본고는 우선 ‘길의 본질과 의미’를 살펴보고, 이에 기초하여 경기옛길의 정체성을 규명해 보는 가운데, 길의 의미에 정초한 비전과 방향을 모색해보는데 목적이 있다. 검토한 바로는, ‘길’은 구체적인 물리적 공간의 이동을 위한 걷는 길은 물론, 추상적인 시간이 담긴 여정, 생활양식과 방법, 나아가 철학적인 태도와 규범 등 세상의 총체적 원리를 포함하는 의미를 담고 있다.
호프스테드의 문화 이해에 따른 상징과 의례, 영웅과 가치의 측면을 걷는 길에적용하여, 우선 걷는 길의 문화적 표층인 상징과 명칭을 이해하기 위해 경기옛길의의미를 분석해보았다. 이를 통해 ‘경기’의 자연 생태적 조건과 역사적 의미로 볼 때한반도의 중심에서 사방의 근본기능을 수행하는 곳이 되며, ‘옛길’의 종교적 함의가 주는 측면에서는 깨달음의 길, 지혜의 길이라는 의미를 확인했다. 따라서 경기옛길은 ‘한반도에서 사방의 근본이 되는 경기의 길로서 길에 응축된 자연과 역사를 통해 미래를 열어가는 지혜의 옛길’이라는 정체성을 갖는다.

영어초록

Trail-walking has been established as a major cultural content for travel and health. A lot of walking trails such as Ollegil, Dullegil, etc. have been built, and the proposal of building ‘Korea Dullegil’ at the level of a national policy was made. But there have been no basic questions, such as ‘What kind of way is this?’, ‘What people is it that walk?’, ‘Why do they walk?’, and ‘How is it that they should walk?’, raised yet. Instead, in most local governments, the authorities concerned have paid attention to the economic gains, such as promoting tourism in the regions, through building trails.
In this paper, the present writer will consider ‘the nature and the meaning of Way’ in the first place and then establish the identity of the Gyeonggi-yetgil(the old routes in Gyeonggido Province). Through the process of discussion, the vision and the way of restoring the Gyeonggi-yetgil will become clear in conclusion.
In view of the results so far reviewed, Way has the whole significance beyond the sense of a specific physical space for walking. It contains not only the abstract itinerary of the past times, the journey of life of the past people, the lifestyles and methods of the people, but it contains philosophical attitudes and norms on which the principles originated from such times and people have been projected, as well. In addition, we could tell that in the principles and the methods of Way is implemented the principle of Lao Tzu, who said that people learn from the earth, the earth learns from the sky, and the sky follows Tao(道) and Tao(道) learns from the nature. In the history of Way, which has embodied such principle of the nature, have been inscribed the functions fulfilling biological, social, political, cultural, philosophical, and religious desires of human beings.
In terms of the natural ecology conditions and the historical significance of ‘Gyeonggi’, the Gyeonggi-yetgil(the old trails in Gyeonggido Province) will be the space functioning as the basic roads radiating toward all directions in the center of the Korean Peninsula. Moreover, it will be the way to spiritual enlightenment or the way to wisdom in terms of the implication of old routes.
Therefore, the Gyeonggi-yetgil will establish itself as the old routes of wisdom in Gyeonggido Province, the center of the Korean Peninsula, which function as the basic routes radiating toward all directions and make way to the future through the nature and the history condensed in itself.
The vision of the Gyeonggi-yetgil will consist in paving way for the current that to consolidate its identity the owners of the routes build ‘the basic routes radiating toward all directions’ of their own accord. For this sake, the fundamental principles of ecology, such as network, diversity, circularity, systemicity, and development potential, should be implemented in the routes.
The Gyeonggi-yetgil should promote the network and the circularity between society and ecosystem, and enhance the three-dimensional structure of the routes through bringing itself to political, cultural, and philosophical issues on the basis of its history and the nature. In addition, the system of the value, philosophy, knowledge, and methodology of walking should be developed, and by means of that system the Gyeonggi-yetgil should serve as a future-oriented and developmental role model.
Specifically, a positive outlook and understanding for natural ecology such as historic great aged trees and traditional ecology in the Gyeonggi-yetgil is necessary. And it should contain not only a variety of ‘trail schools’ but also ‘the route for healing and meditation’, ‘the route to peace’ for overcoming ‘the Northern Limit Line of thinking’ and ‘the feminine-friendly route’ in gender perspective, etc.
