원숭이의 생간(猿の生肝)」설화의 근원설화와 한역경전의 관련화에 관한 고찰 (A Study on the origin of the "Monkey's Raw Liver" tales and related stories of the Chinese Buddhist canon)

초록

本稿は「猿の生肝」説話の根源説話と漢訳経典の関連話をめぐって、説話の伝承の諸相とその影響関係を考察したものである。インドの『本生経』には関連話が四つあって、内容的にはA「背を踏んで走る型」(57話)とB「木に肝をかける型」(208話)に大別される。続いて、インドの教訓や処世を教えるための教育書『パンチャタントラ』や仏教説話集『マハーバストゥ』にも関連話が収録されており、格言やことわざなどの文句とともに『本生経』の話が継承されながら、世俗的な教訓のため、あるいは仏教的な教理を込めて「猿の生肝」説話が展開されている。注目すべき点は、両話ともに「猿とワニの友情」、そして「妻の嫉妬」の内容を含んでおり、量的にも無視できない分量を占めているということである。筆者はこの説話をC「木に肝をかける型-友情と嫉妬-」と命名した。従来の説は、インドの「猿王本生」説話が中国の『仏本行集経』に影響を及ぼしたとしているが、「猿王本生」説話はA「背を踏んで走る型」に属し、「仏本行集経」はB「木に肝をかける型」属するもので、両説話で影響関係を認めるほどの内容上の類似性は見つからない。また、『生経』は『パンチャタントラ』や『マハーバストゥ』を受け継ぐC「木に肝をかける型-友情と嫉妬-」に属しており、『六度集経』·『仏本行集経』はB「木に肝をかける型」に属する。従来の、全体的な内容の構成を考慮せずに登場動物の共通点だけに注目し、『六度集経』·『生経』を同じ系統とし、これらと『仏本行集経』とを異なる系統であるとした説は再考の必要があるだろう。

영어초록

This paper examines various aspects of the tales and its influence on the origin of the tale of ``monkey's raw liver'' and related stories of the Chinese Buddhist canon. There are four related stories in India's "Honshokyo", and its’ contents are divided into two: type A "running by stepping on the back" (episode 57) and type B “hanging the liver on the tree" (episode 208). Related stories are also included in the educational book “Panchatantra” and the collection of Buddhist tales “Mahabastu”. In these stories, the tale of 'monkey's raw liver' is developed for secular lessons or Buddhist doctrine.
It is worth noting that both stories contain the content of ‘the friendship between a monkey and a crocodile’ and ‘the jealousy of a wife,’ and that they occupy a considerable amount in terms of quantity. The author named this tale type C “hanging the liver on the tree-friendship and jealousy-''. It used to be said that the tale of 'Saruo Honsho' from India had an influence on the Chinese "Butsuhongyojikkyo," but the tale of 'Saruo Honsho' belongs to type A and ”Butsuhongyojikkyo“ belongs to type B, and there is no similarity to the extent that any relationship can be recognized between the two tales.
In addition, the "Shokyo" belongs to type C which inherits "Panchatantra" and "Mahavastu", and "Rokudojikkyo" and "Butsuhongyojikkyo" belong to type B. It should be reconsidered that "Rokudojikkyo" and "Shokyo" are regarded as the same strain, and these and "Butsuhongyojikkyo" are of different strains based only on the commonalities of the animals without considering the composition of the entire contents of the tales.
