북한 역사서의 근현대음악사 인식 연구 (A Study on the Recognition of Modern and Contemporary Music History of North Korea)

이 글은 1950년대부터 2000년대에 걸쳐 북한에서 출판된 음악사 저술을 검토함으로써 북한음악사 서술의 변화 양상, 특히 근대와 현대의 시기구분의 변화에 주목하였다.
1956년의 『해방후 조선음악』에서는 1945년 8.15 이후를 북한 현대음악사의 시점으로 인식하였으며, 인민이 만들어낸 사회주의적 음악에 주목하였다. 1966년에 출판된 『조선음악사』에서는 전근대와 근대 음악사의 기점을 명시하였다. 즉, 19세기 말의 갑오농민전쟁(甲午農民戰爭) 즈음으로 상정하고 있는 점에 눈에 띈다. 또한 현대 북한음악의 기원을 일제강점기 카프(KAPF)의 음악활동에서 찾고 있었다. 1979년에 출판된 『해방후 조선음악』은 여전히 현대 음악사 서술의 시작을 8.15 해방 이후로 상정하고 있으며, 음악사 곳곳에 주체사상(主體思想)과 1인 독재체제의 정당성을 설명하는 장이 마련되어 있었다.
1979년부터 출판되기 시작한 『조선전사』에서는 이전과 달리 전근대와 근대의 분기점을 서구제국주의침략이 시작된 1860년대로, 그리고 근대와 현대의 분기점은 김일성(金日成)이 세운 ‘타도제국주의동맹’(打倒帝國主義同盟)으로 상정하였다. 그러나 근대시기의 음악 설명은 부족하였고, 김일성의 활동이 부각되면서 일제강점기 프롤레타리아 음악활동에 대한 서술은 축소되었다.
1990년에 출판된 『조선음악사』와 재판본 정도에 해당하는 2010년의 『조선음악사』는 『조선전사』에 충분하게 소개된 근대음악사 부분을 확대시키고 보완하는 양상을 띠었다. 이 두 책 모두 김일성 가계의 위대성과 혈통을 강조하면서 음악과 결부시켜 설명하였으며, 위대한 지도자 밑에서 위대한 음악이 생산되었다는 관점을 유지하였음을 볼 수 있었다.

This paper focuses on the changes in the description of North Korean music history, especially in the modern and contemporary period, by examining the writings of the music history published in North Korea from the 1950s to the 2000s.
In the Haebanghu chosŏn ŭmak 『해방후 조선음악』 (North Korean Music after the Liberation, 1956), I recognized the post-8.15 period of 1945 as the point of view of the contemporary music history of North Korea, and paid attention to the socialist music produced by the people. The book, Chosŏn ŭmaksa 『조선음악사』(History of North Korean Musi) published in 1966, specifies the origin of pre-modern and modern music history. In other words, it is noticeable that it is assumed to be around the time of Kabo nongmin chŏnjaeng 甲午農民戰爭 (the Peasant's War in the Kabo 甲午 Year, 1894) in the late 19th century. Also, they were looking for the origins of modern North Korean music in the KAPF music activities of the Japanese colonial period.
The book Haebanghu chosŏn ŭmak, which was published in 1979, still presupposes the beginning of modern music history since the Liberation of 8.15, and a chapter explaining the justification of the Chuch'eism 主體思想 and the dictatorship system in all parts of the history of music was prepared.
The book Chosŏn chŏnsa 『조선전사』 (History of North Korea), which began to be published in 1979, assumed the premodern and modern point of departure in the 1860s, when the Western imperialist invasion began, and the modern and contemporary juncture, as Kim Il Sung's 金日成T'ado cheguk chuŭi tongmaeng 打倒帝國主義同盟 ("Overthrow Imperialist Alliance"). However, the description of music in the modern period was insufficient, and the description of the proletarian music activity during the Japanese occupation during the Japanese colonial rule diminished. The Chosŏn ŭmaksa published in 1990 and the Chosŏn ŭmaksa of 2010 expanded and complemented the part of modern music history that was insufficiently introduced to Chosŏn chŏnsa. Both of these books emphasized Kim Il Sung's grandeur and pedigree and associated with music and explained that great music was produced under the great leader.
