초록

【요약문】 4.19 혁명의 정신을 잇는 민주 정치의 핵심은 상호인정이다. 그러나 민주 정치가 자유로운 주체의 공적인 활동으로만 이해되는 한, 구체적 관계를 중시하는 여성은 정치적 영역에서 배제될 수밖에 없게 된다. 필자는 이러한 (여)성과 정치의 딜레마를 극복하기 위해서 대립적 이분법, 성적 이분법을 벗어나는 새로운 민주 정치와 주체의 개념을 제시하고자 한다.
이를 위해 필자는 우선 민주주의 투쟁의 핵심적 동인이 되고 있는 분노나 무시감이 선취된 인정의 개념을 통해서 가능하다는 것을 보여주고, 이러한 선취된 인정의 개념이 최초의 사회적 관계 즉 유아기 초기의 아이-대상(어머니) 관계에서 형성될 수 있음을 밝힘으로써 가장 사적이라고 여겨지는 관계가 가장 정치적일 수 있음을 주장하고자 한다.
나아가 필자는 최초의 사회적 관계를 통해 획득되는 자기이해의 형식이 관계를 부정하는 고독한 자유인의 개념이 아니라 타자와의 인정관계 속에서 획득한 “관계적 독립성”이라는 것을 밝힘으로써 분리성과 관계성의 대립적 이원론을 해체하는 정치적 주체의 개념을 제안할 것이다.
마지막으로 필자는 민주정치를 좁은 의미의 보편적 권리인정이 아니라, 사적인 것과 공적인 것, 정서적인 것과 인지적인 것, 보편적인 것과 특수한 것을 상호교차시킴으로써 상호인정의 폭을 넓히고자 하는 활동으로 재구성하고자 한다.

영어초록

Reciprocal recognition is a core principle of domocratic politics inherited from the spirit of 4.19 revolution. However, as far as the politics is considered as what is composed of "public" activities of "separated" subjects, it must fall into the dilemma associated with the exclusion of women, who have been concentrated in their private relationships, from the politics. In order to overcome this dilemma, I attempt to provide new concepts of democratic politics and political subjects, which go beyond the existing gender dichotomy.


First, I will show that the feelings of indignity and ignorance provoking struggles for democracy can be stirred by the preoccupied concept of recognition. According to Jessica Benjamin, the preoccupied concept of recognition can be obtained through the pre-oedipal relation of child with his(her) object(mother). Even though many people have considered the relation between child and mother as the most private, I assert that the preoccupied concept of recognition, which can be obtain from the most private relation, should be seen as the most political because it can be an important driving force behind the struggles for democratization.
