차이의 인정을 중심으로 한 「엇박자 D」 읽기와 소설교육적 지향 (Study on Reading “Off-beat D” Focused on the Recognition of Difference and Novel Educational Directivity)

초록

이 논문은 김중혁의 「엇박자 D」를 타자 이해의 관점에서 읽음으로써 작중인물들이 서로의 차이를 인정하고 관계 맺는 양상을 탐구하며, 이를 바탕으로 차이의 인정을 중심으로 하는 소설교육의 지향점을 제안한다. 논의를 위해 상호주관주의의 관점에서 타자에 대한 인정을 논의한 악셀 호네트의 인정이론을 참고하였다. 호네트의 인정이론이 다른 타자 이론과 다른 점은 첫째, 윤리적 행위 주체가 보편타당한 원칙에 기초해 자신을 반성하는 것이 아니라 타자의 시각을 통해 자기 자신을 반성하는 탈중심화된 주체이며, 둘째, 타자는 주체에게 적극적으로 반응함으로써 주체의 자기의식 형성에 결정적 영향을 미치는 능동적 주체라는 점이다.
분석 결과 「엇박자 D」에 나타난 차이의 인정 양상은 ‘‘엇박자 D’에 대한 인정 거부’, ‘인정받지 못하는 또 다른 존재 ‘나’’를 통해 드러난 동일성의 폭력, 그리고 ‘‘엇박자 D’의 정체성 드러내기’, ‘‘엇박자 D’에 대한 인정 및 느슨한 연대의 가능성’을 통한 상호주관적 인정에의 도달로 나타났다. 그리고 소설 분석과 더불어 예비교사들의 학습활동 구성 양상을 바탕으로 도출한 소설교육적 지향점은 첫째, 차이 관련 주제어의 설정 시 선악의 이분법에 매몰되지 않고 주체와 타자의 역동적 관계를 고려할 것, 둘째, 인물의 차별 극복 의지에 주목할 때 극복을 둘러싼 대응 방식 전체를 세심하게 이해할 것, 셋째, 시점 바꾸어 쓰기 활동 시 학습자가 소설의 총체적 이해를 고려하여 타자 이해와 시점 변화와의 관련성을 인식할 수 있도록 교사의 피드백이 구체적일 것, 이상이다.
학습독자는 이 소설을 통해 자기실현에 작용하는 상호관계의 영향 및 타자와 공유하는 인정 방식에 대해 고찰할 수 있으며, 소설교육은 작품의 이와 같은 의미를 강조하고 차이의 인정에 대한 학습자의 관점의 폭을 심화시킬 수 있는 방향으로 구성되어야 한다.

영어초록

This paper explores the aspect of characters recognizing each other’s differences and establishing relations with each other by reading Kim Joong-hyuk’s “Off-beat D” from the perspective of comprehension the other, and based on this, suggests the direction of novel education centered on recognition of differences. For this discussion, reference was made to A. Honneth’s theory of recognition which discussed the recognition of the other from the perspective of intersubjectivity. What makes A. Honneth’s theory of recognition different is that first, ethical conductor is not self-reflection based on universal principles, but is decentered subject who reflect on himself through the perspective of the other, and secondly, the other is active subject who has a decisive influence on the formation of self- consciousness of the subject by actively responding to them.
The analysis shows that the patterns of recognition of differences are that first, the violence by identity came out through ‘denial of recognition about ‘Off-beat D’’, ‘another unrecognized being, ‘I’’, and secondly, the attainment of an intersubjective recognition through ‘revealing the identity of ‘Off-beat D’’, ‘recognition of ‘Off-beat D’ and the possibility of loose solidarity’. In addition to the analysis of the novel, the following are the novel educational directivity derived based on the pattern of composition of learning activities by pre-service teachers. First, when setting of the keyword related to differences, it is necessary to consider the dynamic relationship between the subject and the other without being buried in the dichotomy of good and evil; second, it is necessary to carefully understand the whole response surrounding the overcoming when paying attention to the character’s willingness to overcome discrimination; and third, when performing a changing viewpoints activity, it is good to have specific feedback from the teacher so that the learner can recognize the relationship between understanding of other and view change by considering the overall understanding of the novel.
This novel allows learners to explore the effects of interrelationships and the way they share recognition with other working on self-realization. The novel education should be structured in a way that can emphasize the meaning of the work and deepen the learner’s perspective on recognition of differences.
