패션과 자동차 산업의 융합에 의한 업사이클링 패션 프로젝트 사례 분석 (Case Study on Upcycling Fashion Project by Convergence of Fashion and Automotive Industry)

초록

본 연구는 패션과 자동차 산업이 융합되어 지속 가능을 위한 업사이클링 프로젝트를 진행하고 있다는 점에 주목하여 시작되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 패션과 자동차산업의 융합을 기반으로 한 업사이클링 패션프로젝트 사례를 고찰하여 앞으로 지속 가능 확산에 도움을 줄 수 있는 융합 프로젝트 개발에 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위해 지속가능성과 업사이클링패션의 개념, 패션과 자동차의 융합 배경을 문헌 고찰하였고, 사례 연구는 국내외에서 전개된 패션과 자동차 산업의 융합 프로젝트로 단순 협업이 아닌 지속가능성을 위한 업사이클링 패션 프로젝트이다. 연구 결과 및 내용은 다음과 같다. 패션과 자동차 산업의 융합 배경은 지속가능성 모색이라는 공동의 목표, 패션과 자동차 산업의 유사성, 라이프스타일로 전환된 자동차 산업으로 파악되었다. 국내외 기업에 따라 차이는 있으나 주로 자동차 시트 가죽이나 에어백, 바닥이나 트렁크 시트 등 내장재는 물론 타이어나 내부 부속품을 재활용하여 의류, 신발, 액세서리, 소품 등 각종 패션 제품으로 재탄생시켰다. 특히 자동차 실내 장식에 적용된 친환경, 재활용 소재는 패션 제품에도 똑같이 적용되거나, 업사이클링 패션 제품으로 재창조 되어 창의성과 자원의 선순환이라는 지속가능성의 가치를 반영하였다. 주로 자동차 기업의 주관하에 프로젝트 대상은 패션 기업, 패션을 비롯한 다양한 분야의 디자이너, 지속 가능을 위한 비영리 패션 단체, 사회적 패션 기업, 패션 매거진, 패션 편집숍 등 다채롭게 전개되었다. 전개 방식은 제품 개발과 판매, 전시회, 캡슐 컬렉션, 디자인 공모전 등 기업이나 브랜드 특성에 따라 차별화를 나타냈다. 이상의 연구를 통해 패션과 자동차 산업뿐만 아니라 다양한 영역 간 융합에 의한 업사이클링 프로젝트 진행으로 지속가능성 모색이 활발해지기를 기대한다.

영어초록

This study began with the focus that the fashion and automobile industries are converging to carry out upcycling projects for sustainability. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the development of convergence projects that can help spread sustainability in the future by examining cases of upcycling fashion projects based on the convergence of the fashion and automobile industries. To this end, the concept of sustainability and upcycling fashion, and the convergence background of fashion and automobiles were reviewed in the literature. The case study is a convergence project of the fashion and automobile industries that has been developed at home and abroad, and is an upcycling fashion project for sustainability, not a simple collaboration. The results and contents of the study are as follows. The background of the convergence of the fashion and automobile industries was identified as the common goal of seeking sustainability, the similarities between the fashion and automobile industries, and the automobile industry that has been transformed into a lifestyle. There are differences between domestic and foreign companies, but it mainly recycled internal materials such as car seat leather, airbags, floors and trunk seats, as well as tires and interior parts were recycled, and were reborn as various fashion products such as clothing, shoes, and accessories. In particular, eco-friendly and recycled materials applied to interior decoration of automobiles were equally applied to fashion products or recreated as upcycled fashion products to reflect the value of sustainability as a virtuous cycle of creativity and resources. Under the supervision of automobile companies, the project targets were variously developed, including fashion companies, designers in various fields including fashion, non-profit fashion organizations for sustainability, social fashion companies, fashion magazines, and fashion select shops. The development method showed differentiation according to the characteristics of the company or brand, such as product development and sales, exhibitions, capsule collections, and design contests. Through the above research, it is expected that upcycling projects by convergence between various fields as well as the fashion and automobile industries will be carried out in the future, and the search for sustainability will become active.
