기독교 영유아 부모교육의 방향과 과제 (Directions and Tasks for Christian Parent Education of Infants and Toddlers)

초록

본 연구는 기독교 영유아 부모교육의 방향과 과제를 제안하고자 하는 데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구는 두 가지 관점으로 고찰한 후 이를 토대로 그 방향과 과제를 제안하였다. 먼저, ‘부모의 관점’에서 영유아 부모의 위기와 현실을 다양한 각도로 탐색하였다. 영유아 부모는 신체적 문제(체력 소진), 사회·정서적 문제(정서적 소진), 지식적 문제(영유아 교육에 대한 무지), 물질적 문제(경제적 초년생의 시기), 신앙적 문제(영적 고갈의 시기) 등 총체적 위기에 직면하면서, 급기야 양육효능감 상실을 초래하고 있다.
다음으로 ‘영유아 자녀의 관점’에서 영유아 발달에 있어 부모의 중요성을 다양한 발달영역의 각도로 고찰하였다. 생물학적 영역(뇌발달), 인지적 영역(언어발달), 사회·정서적 영역(자아존중감), 종교적 영역(종교적 발달의 영유아기적 뿌리)을 고찰하면서, 다양한 발달영역에서 부모의 역할의 중요성을 살펴보았다.
위의 두 관점으로 고찰한 결과, 아이러니하게도 영유아 부모의 입장에서는 총체적 위기의 시기를 보내고 있지만, 영유아 자녀의 입장에서는 생애 주기상 영유아의 발달에 너무나 중요한 시기임을 발견하게 되었다.
이에 본 연구는 기독교 영유아 부모교육에 3가지 차원의 방향과 제안을 시도하였다. 먼저, ‘교육 대상의 확대’이다. 이미 부모가 된 사람을 대상으로 한 ‘치료적 차원’의 부모교육을 넘어서서, 아직 부모가 되지 않은 자를 대상으로 부모가 될 준비를 하는 ‘예방적 차원’의 부모교육으로 확대해야 할 것을 제안하였다. 둘째, ‘교육 내용의 특화’이다. 한국교회는 모든 연령을 아우르는 ‘포괄적 부모교육’을 넘어서서, 이제 영유아 부모를 위한 특화된 부모교육이 필요함을 제시하였다. 셋째, 특화된 부모교육이 가능할 수 있도록 ‘교육방식의 확대’를 제안하였다. 즉, 기존의 강의식 전달위주의 형식적 교육을 확대하여 ‘비형식적인 관계적 학습공동체’를 제안하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to suggest the directions and tasks of Christian Parent Education of Infants and Young Children. This study considers two perspectives and proposes directions and tasks based on them. First, in ‘Parent’s Perspective’, the crisis and reality of the parents of infants and toddlers were explored from various angles. Parents of infants and toddlers are concerned about physical problems (physical exhaustion), social-emotional problems (emotional exhaustion), intellectual problems (ignorance of early childhood education), material problems (the period of economic beginner), and religious problems (period of spiritual exhaustion). In a crisis, it eventually leads to ‘loss of parenting efficacy.’ Next, in the perspective of infants and toddlers, the importance of parents in the development of infants and toddlers was examined from various development angles. By examining the biological domain (brain development), cognitive domain (linguistic development), socio-emotional domain (self-esteem), and religious domain (infantile root of religious development), the importance of parental roles in various developmental domains was examined.
As a result of considering the above two points of view, ironically, from the perspective of infants and toddlers, it is a period of total crisis, but from the perspective of infants and children, it has been found to be too important for the development of infants.
Therefore, this study attempted three-dimensional directions and suggestions for Christian parental education of infants and toddlers. First, it is ‘expanding the target of education’. It is proposed that, beyond the ‘therapeutic level’ parent education for those who have already become parents, it should be expanded to ‘preventive level’ parent education for those who have not yet become parents. Second, it is ‘specialization of educational contents’. The Korean church has gone beyond 'comprehensive parenting education' that encompasses all ages, and has now suggested that specialized parental education for parents of young children is needed. Third, ‘expansion of educational methods’ was proposed to enable specialized parental education. In other words, a ‘informal relational learning community’ was proposed by expanding the existing formal education focused on instructional delivery.
