    초록

    The purpose of this study is to develop world history units with which students' viewing and thinking methods in history could be diversified and deepened.
    A viewing and thinking method in history teaching is a way to develop the interpretation and diversification skill, and to promote recognition level in history class. It is necessary to learn the view and thinking methods in order to reach a certain level of historical knowledge.
    The developed unit was based on the World Depression of 1929, which caused the World War Ⅱ. From this unit, students can answer 'what is the organizing principle of capitalistic economy in where they live as a member' and 'what has happened thereafter'. In addition, it is expected they develop the viewing and thinking methods historically and economically about the World Depression and get their own values and attitudes as a member of capitalistic economy. The unit development was developed through following procedures:

    ① The contents of the curriculum and the history textbooks of middle and high school on the World Depression were analyzed and checked if they were presented according to any of the viewing and thinking methods.
    ② Developmental stages of the viewing and thinking methods over the World Depression were set up.The economic concept is considered in the stage setting.
    ③ Based on the developmental stages, a logical or intellectual structure for students to develop the viewing and thinking methods is confirmed.
    ④ Based on the logical or intellectual structure, a structure of question(or understanding) for students to develop a way of viewing and thinking was set up .
    ⑤ A new chapter of the World Depression is developed according to the developmental stages of the viewing and thinking methods.

    The developed unit consists of a stage setting, a logical or intellectual structure, a structure of question or understanding and a chapter to understand the fact itself from the viewpoint of the cause, the progress and the result. If they follow these procedures, students may understand the World Depression not simply as the historical event in 1929, but as the development and the transformation in the stream of economic history. The change in the viewing and thinking methods the World Depression for students, this indicates the change and growth in the recognition of history as the learning result.
