핵심 역량 기반 창의 인성 교육을 위한 초등 국어과 쓰기 교육 방법 (Elementary Korean Writing Teaching and Learning Method for Key Competence Based Creative Character Education)

초록

OECD가 DeSeCo 프로젝트를 통해 ‘핵심 역량’의 중요성을 제기한 이래, 세계 여러 나라에서는 교육 경쟁력이 곧 국가 경쟁력의 원천이 된다는 점에 주목하여 미래 사회가 요구하는 ‘핵심 역량’을 추출하여 이를 학교 교육을 통해 실현하는 정책을 추진하고 있다. 우리 국어교육도 2011 개정 국어과 교육과정 작업을 통해서 총론 수준에서 미래 사회에 필요한 핵심 역량을 창의성 함양과 인성 함양으로 집약하면서 이른바 핵심 역량 기반 교육과정을 표방하였다. 그러나 이 핵심 역량 기반의 교육과정은 선언적인 구호 수준에 머물러 있을 뿐 실제 교육 현장에서 어떻게 구현될 수 있을지에 대한 연구는 매우 미진한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 앞선 연구들을 통해서 추출된 미래 핵심 역량과 초등학교 국어과 쓰기 교육의 관련성을 규명하고, 2011 개정 국어과 교육과정에서 표방하고 있는 핵심 역량 기반 창의 인성 교육을 실제 교수 학습 현장에서 구현할 수 있는 초등 국어과 쓰기 교수 학습 모형을 개발하여 제시하였다. 본 연구에서는 초등 국어과 쓰기 교육은 ‘자기 관리하기, 사고하기, 언어·상징·텍스트 활용하기, 문제해결하기, 타인과 관계맺기, 담화 공동체 안에 참여하고 기여하기’의 하위 핵심 역량을 기반으로 하는 3가지 범주의 창의 역량, 인성 역량, 사회 역량을 함께 강화할 수 있어야 함을 주장하였다. 또한 이러한 핵심 역량을 교육할 수 있는 대안으로 ‘핵심 역량 기반 창의 인성 교육을 위한 초등 국어과 쓰기 수업 모델’을 개발하여 제시하였다. ‘핵심 역량 기반 창의 인성 교육을 위한 초등 국어과 쓰기 수업 모델은 ‘재미’, ‘통합’, ‘탐구와 소통’, ‘창의적 사고를 촉발하는 교사의 마중물 언어’의 요소를 중심으로 하며, ‘그림책의 시각적 이미지를 활용한 관문 활동→ 그림책의 시각적 이미지 탐구 활동→ 통합적 탐구 활동→ 질문하기→ 장르 선택해서 글쓰기→ 공유하기’의 단계를 거쳐 수업으로 구현된다. 핵심 역량 기반 창의 인성 교육을 위한 초등 쓰기 교수 학습 모형은 이제까지의 쓰기 교육이 기능, 과정, 방법, 전략 등에만 치우쳐 정작 글쓰기 주체의 목소리가 없는 도식적이고 재미없는 쓰기 교육의 한계를 극복하고 학습자가 유의미한 쓰기 상황 맥락 안에서 실제적인 쓰기 수행을 통해 창의 역량, 인성 역량, 사회 역량을 함양할 수 있다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

영어초록

With the OECD DeSeCo project emphasizing the importance of “key competence” many nations have realized that competitive education is the root of national competence. Therefore, there have been a push in making policy to pick out the “key competencies” and implementing it into education. For Korean language education also, at the outline level of the reform of 2011 National Curriculum for Korean language Education and education process have determined the most needed competence in the future of society is creativity and character. So an education process was declared to focus on the cultivation of creativity and character.
However, this education process based on key competencies has only been declared but there has been unsatisfactory research conducted on how to actually apply this into the education site. This research will take the future key competencies findings from the previous research and investigate the relation to elementary Korean writing education. Furthermore, this research will develop elementary Korean writing teaching and learning models that can actualize creativity and character education as it was declared in the 2011 Korean Language Curriculum Reform. This research claims that elementary Korean writing education must be able to strengthen character, creativity, and social competence through “managing self, thinking, using language · symbol · text, problem-solving, relating to others, participating and contributing in discourse community”.
In addition, as an alternative to do this type of key competency education the “Models on elementary Korean writing education for key competency based on creativity and character” was suggested. The “models on elementary Korean writing education for key competence based on creativity and character” focused on “fun”, “integration”, “inquiry and communication” and “teachers language”. This was actualized in the levels of “Gateway activity based on visual image → investigation activity → asking questions through integrated investigation activity → choosing a genre → writing → sharing.
This model is significant because it overcomes the limitations of unsatisfactory writing education that is focused only on skill, process, methodology, and strategy that produces a voiceless schematic writing. Through a meaningful writing situation context and actual implementation one can cultivate their creativity, character and social competencies.
