題詠詩에 投影된 儒者의 雙磎寺 認識 硏究 (A Study on Confucianism's Perception of Ssanggyesa Reflected in Jeyeongsi)

초록

유자가 불교를 어떻게 인식했는가에 대한 답은 조선조 사회를 이해하는 중요한 자료가 될 것이다. 이 연구는 많이 진행되었으며, 기록에 상당수 의지한 것이 사실이다. 역사에 기록된 세상과 문학에 반영된 세상은 상호보완적 작용을 하며 대상에 대한 이해에 도움을 줄 것이다. 그러므로 한시 작품을 가지고 조선조 유자의 불교에 대한 인식의 한 단면을 고찰하는 것은 의미 있는 작업일 것이다.
이러한 작업을 소논문이라는 연구의 형식에 모두 담아내기는 부적절하므로, 논의의 집중을 위하여 사찰 제영시의 대표성을 지닌 쌍계사 제영시를 가지고 유자의 쌍계사에 대한 인식을 고찰하였다. 이러한 연구가 지속되었을 때 사찰 제영시에 투영된 유자의 사찰에 대한 인식을 考究하는 기초가 될 것이다.
쌍계사 제영시로 분류되는 작품은 총 27수가 있다. 이 중 유자의 작품이 25수이고, 부휴선사와 소요대사의 칠언절구가 각각 1편이 전한다. 이 중 17수의 작품을 가지고 유자의 쌍계사 인식을 고찰하였다. 먼저, 제영시에 투영된 쌍계사에 대한 유자의 인식은 풍광이 좋은 곳에 자리한 幽居 하고 싶은 공간이라는 것을 밝혔다. 제영시에 그려진 쌍계사는 더 이상 사찰이라는 특정 종교 공간이 아니라 은거하고 싶은 장소, 세상 밖 장소인 안식의 장소로 인식되었다. 여기에서는 孤竹의 <次雙磎詩軸> 등 6수의 작품을 분석하였고, 金安國의 <雙磎寺> 등 2개의 작품을 소개하였다.
이어서 유자의 쌍계사에 대한 인식은 쌍계석문으로 대표된다는 사실을 밝혔다. 유자에게 쌍계사는 쌍계석문이 있는 장소, 그 이상의 의미를 지닐 수 없다는 것이다. 나아가 쌍계석문은 고운이 쓴 글씨가 아니라 고운과 동일시된 표상으로 나타난다. 유자에게 쌍계사는 쌍계석문, 쌍계석문은 고운으로 인식되기에 유자가 쌍계사를 찾는 이유는 불교의 사찰이라는 쌍계사의 본원적 의미와는 아무런 관련이 없다. 그러므로 쌍계사는 고운이 은거했던 곳으로, 고운의 유허를 찾아볼 수 있는 공간으로서만 의미를 지닌다고 주장했다.
끝으로 쌍계사 제영시에 그려진 쌍계사는 쌍계사 스님의 삶으로 대변된다는 사실을 밝혔다. 유자에게 쌍계사는 불교의 도량이 아니라 이상적 삶이 가능한 선계로 인식되었다. 쌍계사 제영시 속에서 쌍계사는 그곳에 있는 승려와 동일시되었고, 그러한 삶을 살아가는 승려는 동경과 선망의 대상이나 존숭의 대상으로 인식되었으며, 몇몇 작품에서는 인식 속에서나마 동화가 발생했다고 주장했다.
여기에서 쌍계사 제영시 27수의 작품 중 17개의 작품을 대상으로 논의하였다. 그러므로 쌍계사 제영시 전 작품을 대상으로 논의하지는 않았지만, 논의를 위한 충분한 숫자라고 판단한다. 종합하면 제영시에 투영된 유자의 쌍계사 인식은 隱居를 위한 安息의 場所, 孤雲을 기린 遺墟의 場所, 尊崇을 표한 同化의 場所로 나타났다. 앞으로 이러한 개별 사찰 제영시에 대한 논의는 사찰 제영시의 일반적 특성을 밝히는 데 도움을 줄 것이며, 유자와 불교의 관계를 이해하는 토대가 될 것이다.

영어초록

The answer to how Confucianism perceived Buddhism will be an important data for understanding the Joseon Dynasty society. It is true that this research has been carried out a lot, and a lot of it has relied on records. he world recorded in history and the world reflected in literature will complement each other and help in understanding the subject. Therefore, with Chinese poetry works, one aspect of Confucianism's perception of Buddhism in the Joseon Dynasty was considered.
Since it is inappropriate to include this work in the form of a research paper, Confucianism's perception of temples was considered with Ssanggyesa Jeyeongsi, which has the representative temple jeyeongsi, to focus the discussion. The Confucianist's perception of Ssanggyesa Temple shown in Ssanggyesa Jeyeongsi will be the basis for exploring Confucianism's perception of the temple revealed in the temple Jeyeongsi.
There are a total of 27 works classified as Ssanggyesa Jeyeongsi. Among them, there are 25 works by Confucian scholars, and one piece each of seven-word phrases by Seon Buhyu and Soyo Daesa has been handed down. With this work, Confucianism's perception of Ssanggyesa reflected in the work was examined.
First, Confucianism's perception of Ssanggyesa Temple projected in Jeyeongsi revealed that it is a place where people want to live in a place with good scenery. Ssanggyesa, which was drawn in Jeyeongsi, was no longer a specific religious space called a temple, but was recognized as a place of rest, a place outside the world.Here, 6 pieces of works, including Go Juk's <Chassang-gyesijeon>, were analyzed, and 2 works, including Kim An-guk's <Ssang-gye-si>, were introduced.
Subsequently, it was revealed that Confucianism's perception of Ssanggyesa Temple was represented by Ssanggyesukmun Gate.To Confucian scholars, Ssanggyesa Temple could not have more meaning than the place where Ssanggyeseomun Gate was located. In addition, it was argued that Ssanggyesukmun was not written by Goun, but appeared as a symbol identified with Goun.
To Confucian scholars, Ssanggyesa Temple was recognized as Ssanggyeseokmun and Ssanggyeseokmun as Goun, so he insisted that the reason why Confucian scholars visited Ssanggyesa Temple had nothing to do with the original meaning of Ssanggyesa Temple as a Buddhist temple. Therefore, Ssanggyesa is the place where Goun retired, and it has meaning only as a space where Goun's legacy can be found.
Lastly, it was revealed that Ssanggyesa, which was drawn in the poems of Ssanggyesa Temple, is often represented by the life of Ssanggyesa monk. In the Ssanggyesa Jeyeongsi, Ssanggyesa was identified with the monk there, and it was argued that Ssanggyesa used to be recognized by Confucian scholars as a virtuous world capable of an ideal life, not a Buddhist magnanimity.
Here, 17 of the 27 works of Ssanggyesa Jeyeongsi were discussed. Therefore, although we did not discuss all the works of Ssanggyesa Jeyeongsi, it is judged that the number is sufficient for the claim. In summary, Confucianism's perception of Ssanggyesa, reflected in Jeyeongsi, appeared as a place of rest for seclusion, a place of regret for Goun, and a collection of fairy tales expressing respect. In the future, the discussion of these individual temple jeyeongsi will help clarify the general characteristics of temple jeyeongsi, and will be the foundation for understanding the relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism.
