부모양육태도가 중국 대학생의 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향 －긍정심리자본의 매개효과를 중심으로 (The Effect of Parenting Attitude on Chinese University Students’ Adaptation to University Life: Focusing the Mediating Effects of Positive Psychological Capital)

초록

매년 한국에 중국인 유학생의 인구가 계속 증가하는 추세를 고려해볼 때, 중국인 유학생들이 타국에서 공부하면서 여러 가지 어려움을 겪을 수 있다. 게다가 중국만의 독특한 1가구 1자녀, ‘계획 생육’ 정책으로 인해 많은 외동자녀들이 독립성과 적응력이 부족하여 자국이 아닌 타국에서의 대학교 생활 적응에 더욱 어려움을 겪을 수 있을 것으로 예측할 수 있다. 이를 토대로 본 연구는 중국인 대학생의 학교 부적응 문제에 대한 해결 방안을 모색하는 데 필요한 기초자료를 제공할 목적으로 진행되었다. 연구대상자는 중국인 대학생 274명을 대상으로 긍정심리자본을 매개로 하여 부모양육태도와 대학생활적응의 관계를 검토하였다. 연구의 주요 결과는, 첫째, 부모가 가진 정서적 따뜻함과 애정적인 양육태도의 정도가 높을수록 자녀의 대학생활적응 수준이 더 높게 나타났으며, 반면에 부모가 자녀에게 과도한 통제를 할수록 자녀의 대학생활적응 수준이 더 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 중국 대학생들의 긍정심리자본 수준이 높을수록 학교생활에 더 잘 적응하는 것을 나타났다. 셋째, 중국인 대학생 자녀가 부모가 가진 정서적 따뜻함과 애정적인 양육태도를 인지할수록 긍정심리자본의 수준이 높게 나타났으며, 반면 부모가 자녀에게 과도한 통제를 할수록 대학생 자녀의 긍정심리자본의 수준이 더 낮게 나타났다. 넷째, 긍정심리자본은 부모양육태도와 대학생활적응과의 관계를 부분매개 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 한국 대학의 중국인 유학생관리와 유학생을 위한 심리상담을 위한 주요한 자료로서 연구의 의미가 있다.

영어초록

In recent times, the number of Chinese students studying in South Korea has increased from year to year. Such students can expect to experience various difficulties associated with studying and living in a foreign country. In addition, as only children, born under China’s unique “family planning policy”, they are usually regarded by their parents as “little emperors” or “little princesses”, leading to lack of autonomy and adaptability which may make living in other countries even more difficult than they anticipate. Lacking the abilities to adequately look after themselves and adapt to a new environment, they may face significant challenges l iving abroad. In light of this, this paper explores 274 Chinese college students, and aims to provide essential materials for supporting Chinese students in adapting better to campus life abroad, and further, to offer universities and overseas student management institutions solutions to manage Chinese students’ university life. Specifically, this study examines the relationship between parenting attitudes and children’s adaptation to university life by considering the mediating role of positive psychological capital. The main findings are as follows: Firstly, a higher degree of warmth in the attitude held by parents will result in a higher degree of university life adaptation in their children; conversely, an attitude of excessive control from parents will case lower university life adaptability in their children. Secondly, the higher the positive psychological capital of university students, the better their adaptation to the university environment. Thirdly, when children can perceive a warm attitude from their parents, their degree of positive psychological capital is higher; conversely, if parents are excessively controlling of their children, the degree of positive psychological capital in children is lower. Fourthly, positive psychological capital plays a mediating role in the relationship between parenting attitudes and university life adaptation. The mediating effects of positive psychological capital enhance parenting attitudes on children’s university life adaptation. This research has profound implications for foreign students studying and living in South Korea by providing essential materials to support institutions that manage and offer psychological consultation to such students.
