내포지역(예산군․서산시․당진시) 문화유산의특성과 연계 활용을 통한 가치 증진 (Characteristics of Cultural Heritages in Naepo(Yesan, Seosan, and Dangjin) and Value Enhancement through Linkage Utilization)

초록

10여 년 사이 ‘지역 문화유산 활용 사업’ 등에 힘입어 문화유산 활용이 급속히 성장했다. 문화유산의 가치를 누릴 수 있는 기회가 많아졌고, 문화유산이 지역 활성화에도 기여하고 있다. 다른 한편으로는 문화유산 활용이 갖는 한계도 분명한데, 문화유산의 본질적 의미와 가치에 접근하지 못하는 사례가 많다는 점과 역사적․문화적으로 가치가 큼에도 주목받지 못하는 문화유산이 많다는 점 등이 그것이다.
이 연구에서는 예산군과 서산시, 당진시 등 내포지역 3개 시․군을 대상으로 문화유산 활용 방안을 모색하였다. 지역 문화유산의 특성과 활용 현황을 살펴보고, 지금까지의 문화유산 활용에서 나타나는 한계를 극복할 수 있는 방법을 찾고자 한 것이다. 구체적으로 ① 문화관광해설사 역량 강화를 통한 문화재의 가치 중심 활용, ② 문화관광해설사가 동행하는 이동식 해설과 각 지역 문화관광해설사 간 협력을 통한 지역 간 연계 활용, ③ 많은 사람들이 찾아오는 사찰이 문화유산 교육과 문화유산에 관한 정보를 제공하는 문화재 활용 거점 역할, ④ 지방자치단체의 지역 문화유산 활용 사업 완성도 제고와 활용 대상 문화유산 확대 등을 방안으로 제안한다.
이런 방안은 예산 수덕사나 서산 용현리 마애여래삼존상과 같이 많은 사람들이 찾아오는 대표적인 문화유산이 있다는 점, 이와는 대조적으로 큰 가치가 있음에도 주목받지 못하는 문화유산이 많다는 점, 문화유산의 본질적 의미와 가치를 알지 못한 채 겉만 보는 관광객이 많다는 점, 불교문화재가 차지하는 비중이 크다는 점 등 지역적 특성에 기초한 것들이다. 관련 주체들 간의 적극적인 협력으로 수요자를 중심에 둔 문화유산 활용 체계를 확립하여 내포지역 문화유산을 효과적으로 활용하게 되기를 기대한다.

영어초록

Over the past 10 years, the use of cultural heritage has grown rapidly thanks to projects to utilize local cultural heritage. Opportunities to enjoy the value of cultural heritage have increased, and cultural heritage is also contributing to regional revitalization. On the other hand, the limitations of the use of cultural heritage are also clear: there are many cases where the essential meaning and value of cultural heritage cannot be approached, and there are many cultural heritage sites that do not receive attention even though they are of great historical and cultural value.
In this study, I sought ways to utilize cultural heritage in three cities and counties in Naepo, including Yesan-gun, Seosan-si, and Dangjin-si. The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics and the status of cultural heritage utilization of local cultural heritage, and to find a way to overcome the limitations that appear in the use of cultural heritage so far. Specifically, ① strengthening the capacity of cultural tourism commentators and utilizing the value-centered use of cultural heritage through education; ② utilizing interregional links through mobile commentary accompanied by cultural tourism commentators and cooperation between cultural tourism commentators in each region; ③ serving as a base for utilizing cultural heritage, where temples where many people visit provide cultural heritage education and information on cultural heritage; ④ enhancing the completion of local cultural heritage utilization projects by local governments and expanding cultural heritage to utilize.
These measures are based on regional characteristics, such as Yesan Sudeoksa Temple and Rock-carved Buddha Triad in Yonghyeon-ri, Seosan, which are representative cultural heritages that many people come to visit, in contrast, there are many cultural heritages that do not receive attention despite their great value, many tourists only look at the surface without knowing the essential meaning and value of cultural heritages, and the large proportion of Buddhist cultural properties. It is expected that the local governments will establish a consumer-centered cultural heritage utilization system through active cooperation between related actors to effectively utilize cultural heritage in Naepo.
