초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 산업혁명 이후 사회는 산업 발전에 집중하며 대량의 온실가스를 배출하여 지구온난화를 가속화 하였다. 최근 지구온난화, 이상기후 현상이 발생하면서 사회적·경제적·환경적 피해가 늘어나고 있다. 현대사회의 주요쟁점인 탄소중립과 함께 지구를 위한 지속가능성에 대한 관심과 필요도가 높아지고 있다. 1960년대부터 지속가능한 디자인을 목표로 해온 영국건축가 노먼포스터의 기업인 포스터 파트너스는 사회적 책임을 위한 노력을 지속적으로 유지해 나가며 사회적, 환경적 문제를 대비해 왔지만 탄소 배출량이 높은 건축 산업의 지속가능한 미래를 위해 기술적, 사회적 문제해결 방안에 대한 검토와 분석이 필요하다. 본 연구는 포스터 파트너스의 설계 기술과 기업 운영 방식을 통해 미래 사회에 적용할 기준을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. (연구방법) 탄소중립을 위한 지속가능한 방안 제시를 목표로 하여, 노먼포스터가 지향하는 지속가능한 건축과 포스터 파트너스의 지속가능한 사회적 책임을 위한 기업 운영 과정에 대해 살펴본다. 지속가능한 건축의 특성에 따라 건축 설계과정, 건물 유지방안, 건축 산업의 사회적 책임을 중심으로 현대 사회 지속가능한 환경을 위해 적용할 수 있는 기준을 제시하며, 사례연구를 통해 지속가능한 기준을 CSER (Corporate Social Environment Responsibility)을 활용해 미래사회에 적용하기 위해 제언한다. (결과) 연구결과를 통한 디자인 방안은, 모두가 사회적 문제와 사회적 책임에 관한 중요성을 인식하며 건강한 환경과 함께 소통하는 사회를 위한 디자인 계획을 제안한다. 그리고 현재 건축은 용도에 따라 서로 다른 목적을 가진다. 정부 운영건축은 공공성에 따라 물리적 환경개선이 부족하며, 기업 운영건축은 사회가 만든 기준에 맞추며 공공적 접근에 한계가 있다. 서로의 한계를 상호 보완하여 사회적 책임지표를 균형적 구조로 보완해 지속가능성을 형성한다. 이전 지속가능한 건축은 기술의 발전을 통한 하이테크 건축, 친환경 기술 건축으로, 도시 발전을 위한 문화보존 건축, 재생건축이 있다. 설계 기업은 기술적 발전으로 지속가능성을 이어왔지만 기술력으로만 구축할 수 없어 사회와 정부의 적극적 협력이 필요하다. 기업의 기술력과 정부의 적극적 협업 그리고 시민들의 커뮤니티, 세 가지 협력적 태도가 새로운 지속가능한 건축 특징으로 발전한다. (결론) 시대 발전에 따라 지속가능한 건축 방안이 함께 발전되고, 기업의 사회적 책임이 아닌 모두가 이뤄나갈 사회적 책임 10가지 주제 방안처럼 문제에 따른 해결 방안은 시대적 흐름과 사회적 상황에 따른 고찰이 중요하다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 현대 사회의 탄소중립을 이루고 균형 있는 사회를 만들기 위한 지속가능한 건축은 기업과 정부의 협력적 태도로 공공성과 기술성을 바탕으로 디자인 방법론을 통한 미래 사회에 적합한 새로운 디자인 방안을 제시하였다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) Since the Industrial Revolution, society has focused on industrial development, resulting in massive greenhouse gas emissions that have accelerated global warming. Global warming and abnormal climate phenomena have caused increasing social, economic, and environmental damage. With carbon neutrality as a key issue in modern society, there is a growing interest in and need for sustainability. Since the 1960s, Foster + Partners, the firm of British architect Norman Foster, has pursued sustainable design, continuously maintaining efforts to address social responsibilities and prepare for social and environmental challenges. However, to ensure a sustainable future for the construction industry, which is a major contributor to carbon emissions, it is essential to examine and analyze technical and social problem-solving measures. Therefore, this study proposes criteria applicable to future societies based on Foster + Partners’ design technologies and corporate operations. (Methods)This study proposes sustainable solutions for achieving carbon neutrality by examining Foster's approach to sustainable architecture and the corporate operations of Foster + Partners, which prioritize sustainable social responsibility. Based on the characteristics of sustainable architecture, this study presents criteria applicable to creating a sustainable environment in modern society, focusing on architectural design processes, building maintenance strategies, and the social responsibilities of the construction industry. Additionally, case studies are used to propose recommendations for applying sustainability criteria to future societies using corporate social environment responsibility (CSER). (Results)The design proposals derived from the study emphasize recognizing the importance of social issues and responsibilities, and planning for a society that communicates harmoniously with a healthy environment. Currently, architecture varies in purpose: government buildings often lack improvements in the physical environment due to public interest, whereas corporate buildings align with societal standards but face limitations in public accessibility. Complementing these limitations with balanced social responsibility indicators can foster sustainability. Earlier sustainable architectural trends involved high-tech and eco-friendly construction, cultural preservation, and urban regeneration. Although design firms have advanced sustainability through technical developments, collaboration between society and governments is essential. The synergistic efforts of corporate expertise, active government collaboration, and community participation have created a new, sustainable architectural paradigm. (Conclusion)As time progresses, sustainable architectural solutions continue to evolve, focusing not only on corporate social responsibility but also on collective societal responsibility. This study highlighted the importance of addressing problems with solutions tailored to contemporary trends and social contexts. By proposing a methodology rooted in public and technical collaboration between corporations and governments, this study offers new design strategies suitable for future societies to achieve carbon neutrality and balanced development.
