오장환의 ‘숨은 분노’를 통한 시니시즘 표출 양상 -『성벽』을 중심으로 (The aspects of Cynicism by ‘Hidden Anger’ in Oh, Jang-hwan’s poems)

초록

오장환은 1930년대에 모더니즘에서 리얼리즘에 이르기까지 전 영역에 걸쳐 작품세계를 펼친 시단의 중요한 인물이다. 그는 전통의 인습이 남아있는 시대에 서자로 태어나 가정에서 소외되고 그로 인한 우울, 불안 등이 내적 감정으로 형성되어 성장하게 된다. 그가 어린 시절 안정된 정서를 누리지 못했음은 학창시절에 자퇴와 돌연 떠나는 유학 그리고 또 다시 자퇴 등 정착되지 않는 불안정을 통해 알 수 있다. 그의 초기 작품『성벽』에 보면 전통에 대한 강한 거부감과 반항이 엿보인다. 실제로 이러한 부분은 기존에 많은 연구가 진행되었고 시 속에 드러난 시어의 퇴폐성, 그리고 허무주의 또한 특정 대상에 대한 흠집내기 등을 당시 유행하던 상징주의의 하위개념인 데카당스의 측면에서 분석되어진 연구가 주를 이룬다. 그러나 이번 연구에서는 오장환의 초기시인『성벽』에 나타난 이러한 양상을 그에게 어린 시절부터 조금씩 형성된 ‘숨은 분노’의 표출로 인한 결과로 접근하면서 시작된다. 심리학에서의 ‘숨은 분노’는 수동공격성 감정 즉 자신이 표현하고 싶은 욕망이 지나치게 억압되어 그것이 긍정적인 모습의 분노로 드러나는 것 즉 타인이 절대 눈치 채지 못하는 상황과 도구로 분노를 표출하는 것으로 본다. 오장환은 서자로서 가문에서 당연히 소외되고 그로 인해 성장과정에서 누구나 표출되어야 하는 에너지가 소통되지 못했을 것이 분명하다. 따라서 그렇게 형성된 ‘숨은 분노’를 자신의 말을 대변해주는 시적화자를 설정해 시로 표출했다는 것이 이번 연구의 핵심이다. 또한 소외로 인한 자기 비하의 모습과 자신이 이러한 상황에 놓이게 한 중심에 어머니가 있기에 그에 대한 안타까움과 분노를 직접적으로 영향을 끼친 ‘어머니’가 아닌 작품 속 여성을 폄훼함으로 그 분노를 빗겨간다. 그것이 ‘숨은 분노’의 방향성이라는 것이다. 그의 분노는 가정 안에서의 개인적 분노로 가득 찬 전통 속 기성세대들은 그를 지지해 주지 않는다.
또한 그것은 다시 사회적 지지를 받지 못한 자의 불안의 심리로 나타난다. 이러한 점을 그의 ‘숨은 분노’의 원인으로 접근해 작품을 분석해 나갔다. 작품성 시어의 상징성이나 내용이 분석도구가 달라짐으로 인해 조금 생소할 수 있으나 이러한 분석의 시도는 작품을 올바르고 종합적으로 이해하는데 있어 반드시 필요한 부분이라 생각하고 이 논문에 역점을 두는 바이다.

영어초록

In the society of poets, Oh, Jang-hwan is important person that wrote poems within the category of all, range from the Modernism to Realism in the 1930’s. For all that he is an illegitimate, in those days most people followed the traditional convention. And so he was kept at a distance by his families and he grew up with making the negative emotions in his mind, for examples, melancholy, anxiety. That he couldn’t have stable emotion in his youth, was revealed unstable and unfix deeds, leaving his school voluntarily, going to study abroad abruptly and ceasing it again.
In his early poems of 《성벽》, he expressed that he had the strong rejection and resistance against the tradition. In fact, it was researched a lot by that point, and that is mainly analyzed demoralization in poetical words, nihilism and bruising a specified person on the view of the Decadence that came into vogue at that time and was a subordinate concept of symbolism.
But this paper begins to approach to the result that was made by the exposure of ‘hidden anger’ that was formed his childhood gradually. An emotion of passive offense in psychology, means to reveal positive anger by lots of depressed desire that he would like to reveal. In other word, that is to express the anger with what sort of situation and vehicle without being noticed by others.
Oh, Jang-hwan, as a matter of course, as a illegitimate, must be estranged from his families. And because of that, we guess that he couldn’t indicate his energy whoever would manifest in his growth process. The result was that he made the poetical speaker speakers the ‘hidden anger’ for his words. That is point of this paper.
And also he expressed that he has anxiety and anger by speaking ill of women. The first emotion was made of disregarding himself by the alienation and the other was formed because there is his mother in the very middle of the reason which he should be in this bad situation.
And his anger couldn’t be ceased as a personal anger in his family but society. However his times is the colonial period by Japan, and the old generation who live in the society where was full of affectation, wouldn’t support him. Therefore that is expressed anxious mind that he who is supported by the society has. That is regarded as the reason of ‘hidden anger’ and this paper analyze his poems to approach to this point. The symbol and substance of the words in his poem may be unacquainted with the changed the vehicle of analysis but this attempt of analysis have to be necessary for understanding the poems overall and so that is placed on the center in this paper.
