초록

선진지역으로부터 후발지역으로 전파되어 공통의 정신적 질서를 만들어낸 것이 예악문화였다. 고려와 조선조는 중국으로부터 받아들인 유교 이데올로기를 바탕으로 예악제도를 수립함으로써 중세적 보편성을 구현할 수 있었다. 그리고 집권세력은 집권세력대로 민중은 민중대로 그것을 자신들의 왕조에 대한 자부심의 근거로 삼았다. 천명에 따라 성립된 왕통체계의 자부심, 백성들을 위한 선정(善政)의 명분, 어렵게 이룩한 왕조를 영속시켜야 할 당위성 등은 그들이 음악이나 악장 등 예악에 담고자 한 핵심적 주제였다. 아악 악장들이 『시경』의 전통을 이은 송나라 악장으로부터 강한 영향을 받았음은 의심의 여지가 없고, 고려의 당악이나 속악 등 연향악과 그에 올려 부르던 악장들도 대부분 송을 통해 도입된 당악이나 송사들의 영향을 강하게 받은 것들이었다. 무엇보다 고려 왕조가 당・송・금・원・명이 통시적・공시적으로 형성하던 국제정치의 현실 속에서 중국의 음악을 도입해 쓰는 것을 생존외교의 일환으로 생각했다는 점은 예악이 단순한 의례에 그치는 문제가 아니었음을 보여준다. 말기의 고려 정권이 송・금・원에서 음악 혹은 악장의 영향을 받았다는 사실을 한 자리에서 밝히는 일은 매우 중요하다. 그것은 음악이나 악장의 테두리를 벗어나 당대 정치・외교적 범주의 사안일 수 있기 때문이었다. 이 시기 중국에서는 북송・요(遼)[거란(契丹]・금(金)[여진(女眞)]이 패권을 다투었고, 고려는 이런 상황을 예의주시하며 매우 현실적인 외교를 펼치고 있었다. 따라서 고려의 음악이나 악장에 이들 왕조의 것들이 일부 섞여 있는 점은 그런 복잡한 현실이 반영된 것이다. 송나라 휘종은 조서에서 ‘고려의 왕이 바깥에 있으면서 의(義)를 사모하여 동화(同化)해왔고, 신악을 원하므로 신악을 내린다’고 함으로써 동화의 대상 안에 음악을 포함시켰다. 음악이 단순히 음악으로 끝나지 않고 악장이나 의례로 확장되면서 예악제도가 이루어지고, 결국 왕조의 품격을 보여줌으로써 한 시대의 문화로 승화되는 것임을 당시의 지배자들도 깨닫고 있었음을 보여주었다. 타인의 관점이나 이데올로기를 받아들여 그것을 자신의 의식으로 변화시키는 것이 동화이다. 따라서 그것은 예악제도나 문화에 내재하는 보편성을 공유하는 데서 정치 차원으로까지 확대되는 개념이기도 하다. 따라서 이들 네 왕조의 악장이 언어와 국경을 초월하여 공유하는 유사성이란 시대와 지역의 차이를 뛰어넘어 인정할 수밖에 없는, 일종의 보편성으로 보아야 할 것이다. 그리고 그 보편성이란 유교 이데올로기와 한자문화를 바탕으로 이루어진 것이다. 예악문화의 측면에서 고려가 중세왕조의 대열에 합류했음을 보여주는 뚜렷한 증거를 음악과 악장에서 찾아볼 수 있는 것도 바로 그 때문이다.

영어초록

It was the Yeak(禮樂) culture that spread from developed regions to undeveloped regions and created a common spiritual order. By establishing the Yeak system based on Confucian ideology accepted by China, medieval universality could be realized. And, either the ruling class or the lower class used it as the basis for their pride in their dynasty. The pride about the royal ruling system established according to Heaven’s command, the virtues of a benign rule for the people, and the legitimacy to perpetuate the dynasty build with difficulty were key themes they wanted to put into music and Akjang(樂章). There is no doubt that the Aak(雅樂) Akjangs were strongly influenced by the Song Dynasty's Akjangs and most of the Yeonhyang(宴享) music, such as the Tang-ak(唐樂) of Goryeo and the traditional music of Song, were strongly influenced by the Tang-ak or Songsa(宋詞) introduced through Song. Above all, the fact that the Goryeo Dynasty considered introducing and using Chinese music as a part of its survival diplomacy in the realities of international politics, which were formed by Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, and Ming, shows that Yeak was not just a matter of ritual. It is very important to define in this paper the fact that the late Goryeo regime was influenced by music or Akjang at the Song, Jin, and Yuan. It was because it could be a contemporarily political and diplomatic issue of the time beyond the boundaries of music or Akjang. During this period, North Song, Kitan, and Yeojin struggled for supremacy, and Goryeo was closely watching this situation and engaged in very realistic diplomacy. Therefore, the fact that some of these dynasties are mixed in the music and Akjang of Goryeo reflects such a complex reality. The Emperor Hwijong of the Song Dynasty included music in the objects of assimilation by saying, "The king of Goryeo has been outside and has been assimilating for adoring righteousness, and I give music according to his want." It was shown that the rulers of the time realized that music did not just end in music, but expanded into Akjang and ceremonies, resulting in a system of Yeak, and eventually sublimated into the culture of an era that showed the dignity of the dynasty. It is the meaning of assimilation to accept other people's perspectives or ideologies and transform them into their own consciousness. Therefore, it is also a concept that extends from sharing the universality inherent in the Yeak system or culture to the political level. Therefore, the similarities shared across languages and borders by these four dynasties should be seen as a kind of universality that has no choice but to admit beyond the differences between times and regions. And the universality is based on Confucian ideology and Chinese character culture. That's why there is clear evidence in music and Akjang which shows that Goryeo joined the ranks of the medieval dynasty from the angle of Yeak culture.
