신문 속에 나타난 속담 패러디 양상 -1974년 경향신문 <餘滴>을 중심으로 (The Aspect of Proverb Parodies in Newspaper - on Kyunghyang Shinmun in 1974)

초록

The purpose of this study is to figure out how a proverb is cited to communicate it to the public in the popular press, newspaper that reports, criticizes, and explains the happenings in society of the age. In this study, a parody was approached to a wide concept of ‘repetition and difference’ between text and text. In this sense, when the proverb is seen as a genre of oral literature, the column <excursus> written in the nonfiction genre of newspaper may be also included in the field of essay by the wide concept. Consequently, the parodic relationship is established in a comprehensive sense for the inter-textual relationship to the <excursus> written in the genre of oral literature and the nonfiction genre. This study approached proverbs written in the column <excursus> on Kyunghyang Shinmun in 1974 in terms of parody. Proverbs were approached in terms of rhetoric how they are used and transformed to be parodied in the text used as the original text when proverb users parody them.
A proverb has a function that its external form and internal meaning are very variable and diverse according to the language environments and the use context. This is a typical feature of oral literature that it is varied to diverse forms according to proverb users. The universal lesson, satire, and metaphor of proverb are just some of numerous functions of proverb. And many functions and features may be showed up according to proverb users. The proverb parodied in <excursus> has the function as a common langage of the public and has the authority as traditional truth representing various living territories for readers, including excursus writers. Excursus writers borrow appropriate proverbs instead of everyday words to emphasize and communicate their thoughts to readers, and readers communicate with excursus writers each other while accepting the expression through proverbs instead of the direct expression more effectively. If parodists reveal their thoughts, share with the public, and win the sympathy through proverbs by adding their discourse to the original text of the existing proverbs to reproduce it by ‘repetition of difference’, a proverb may be also a new parody strategy. This study has a significance of trying the meaning and function, which proverbs of popular literature are used in the living field of the public, newspaper beyond proverb dictionaries or collections, through parodic approach.
