유학 경전 속의 ‘열락’에 대한 심미적 이해와 정치적 교화 (Athetic Uerstanding of ‘Peasure’ in Confucian Sriptures)

초록

이 글은 유학 경전 속에 나타난 ‘열락(悅樂)’이라는 심미적 감수성을 유학의 도덕적 수양의 근본이념인 인의(仁義)와 정치사회적 규범과 화합통일의 원리로서 ‘예악(禮樂)’과 연관하여 그 상관적 의미를 고찰하고자 하였다. 유가 경전에서는 통치를 위한 도덕적 지향, 정치적 상황 및 통치자의 태도와 연관하여 내적 기쁨과 외적 즐거움을 종종 언급하고 있다. 유학에서 열락은 한편으로 도덕적 이념을 추구하는 군자 또는 통치자의 내적 도덕적 만족감에 대한 기쁨과 즐거움이며, 다른 한편 피통치자인 민중들의 통치자의 통치에 대한 만족감의 내적 외적 표현이기도 하다. 그런데 이러한 통치자와 피통치자가 각각 가지는 내적 외적 기쁨과 즐거움으로써 ‘열락(悅樂)’은 통치의 도덕적 이념이자 객관적 규범체계 및 화합의 원리로서 인의예악(仁義禮樂)과 긴밀한 연관성을 갖는다. 『논어』, 『맹자』에서 ‘열락[說]’, ‘열(悅)’은 기본적으로 도덕적 지향을 가지는 통치자와 피통치자로서 백성들이 도덕적 만족감 또는 이상적인 정치적 질서가 실현될 때 느끼는 심미적 감수성의 의미를 갖는다. 특히 통치자에게서 ‘열락[說]’이 도덕적 의지와 지향을 가지고 이상적인 정치를 실현하고자 하는 데서 느끼는 심미적 만족감으로 이해된다면, 일반 백성에 있어서 그것은 통치자가 도덕적 의지를 가지고 안정되고 평화롭게 자신들의 삶을 영위할 수 있는 질서체계와 환경을 만들어 줄 때 느끼는 감정이다. 결론적으로 유학 경전에서 말하는 ‘열락[說]’또는 ‘기쁨[悅]’은 통치자와 일반 백성들 사이의 도덕적 심미적 공감을 소통시켜주는 지표이자 기준이다.

This article relates the aesthetic sensibility of ‘pleasure’ found in Confucian scriptures to benevolence and righteousness as the basic ideology of Confucian moral cultivation, political and social norms, and ‘rites and music’ as the principle of harmony and unification. The purpose was to examine the correlational meaning. Confucian scriptures often mention internal and external joy in relation to the moral orientation for governance, political situations, and the ruler's attitude. In Confucianism, pleasure is, on the one hand, the joy and enjoyment of the internal moral satisfaction of a gentleman or ruler who pursues moral ideology, and on the other hand, it is also an internal and external expression of the governed people's satisfaction with the ruler's rule. However, ‘pleasure’, which is the internal and external joy and enjoyment that rulers and ruled each have, is closely related to benevolence, righteousness, righteousness, and music as a moral ideology of governance, an objective normative system, and a principle of harmony. In 『Analects of Confucius』 and 『Mencius』, ‘pleasure[說]’ and ‘zeal(悅)’ basically refer to the aesthetic sensitivity felt by the people as morally oriented rulers and ruled in an environment where moral satisfaction or an ideal political order is realized. has the meaning of In particular, if ‘pleasure [說]’ for rulers is understood as the aesthetic satisfaction felt in realizing an ideal politics with moral will and orientation, for the general public it means that rulers can lead their lives stably and peacefully with moral will. This is the feeling you get when you create an orderly system and environment. In conclusion, ‘pleasure [說]’ or ‘joy [悅]’ mentioned in Confucian scriptures is an indicator and standard that communicates moral and aesthetic sympathy between the ruler and the general public. As seen in the examples of 「Taegwae(泰卦)」 and 「Yegwae(豫卦)」, 『Juyeok』, like the Good and Bad Hoein(吉凶悔吝), presents value standards for good and bad for external situations, allowing people to follow them. Depending on whether you follow it or not, it is predicted that emotions such as joy and joy, or conversely, sadness and depression, will be expressed. In short, in Confucianism, rites and music are the principles that bring order and harmony between rulers and ruled together, and pleasure becomes an objective opportunity for them to communicate through aesthetic sensitivity and aesthetic consciousness.
