글로벌 사회 속 아프리카의 동반성장을 위한 AICs의 과제 (AICs Challenges for Africa s Shared Growth in the Global Society)

초록

아프리카의 위기 요소들은 글로벌 차원에서 부정적인 영향을줄 수 있다. 아프리카의 ‘기후변화-기아-분쟁-난민 발생-유럽으로의 유입-지역의 몰락’이라는 ‘악순환의 고리’는 수많은 아프리카디아스포라를 북반구(global north) 지역으로 대이동 시키고 있다. 북반구에 정착하는 아프리카인들 특히 기독교인들의 자기 정체성은 이미 북반구 사회뿐 아니라 교회에도 긍정적 혹은 부정적인 영향을 주고 있으며, 앞으로 더 심화될 것이 자명하다. 아프리카 교회는 2060년까지 전체 기독교인의 40%에 육박할 정도로 지구상에서 가장 빠르게 성장하고 있으며, 특히 AICs(Africa Independence Churches)는 아프리카 교회를 대변하며 대 사회적 영향력이 점차 커지고 있다. 글로벌 성장의 동반자로서 아프리카 내에서 AICs 의 역할이 중요해지는 대목이다. 그러나 이 대륙에서 AICs는 현재 ‘악순환의 고리’라는 그들의 지역 공동체의 생존과 밀접한 외부적인 어려움에 직면해 있을 뿐 아니라, 내부적으로는 리더십의 문제, 일만 개나 되는 분파의 문제, 과도한 지역신학화와 혼합주의의 문제 등의 위험 요소를 여전히 가지고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 AICs 의 대 사회적인 영향력은 아프리카 전체의 총체적인(wholistic) 발전과 긴밀한 연관성을 가진다. 아프리카가 당면한 글로벌 이슈들이 글로컬(glocal)하게 연결되어 있는 이 시대에 AICs가 아프리카자체뿐 아니라 글로벌 사회를 향한 공적 역할을 해주기를 기대하고있다. AICs가 식민주의 시대의 아픔을 딛고 새롭게 정립한 자기 정체성(neo-Christianity)을 가지고 아프리카가 직면한 수많은 문제들을 해결하는 데 역할을 할 수 있을까? 이를 위한 AICs의 내부적인 과제는 무엇일까? 내부적으로 AICs는 서구 식민주의에 대한 참된 용서와 더불어, 자신들의 신학을 되돌아보아 지역신학에 과도하게 집착하지않고 글로벌 신학과 대화가 가능한 신학적 정체성을 가져야 한다. AICs는 생태적으로 지역 사회 안에서 존재하는 교회로서의 정체성을 가지고 있다. AICs의 정체성이 개인의 아픔을 치유하고 매일의필요를 채워주는 현재의 직무를 뛰어 넘어서 당면한 글로벌 이슈들에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다면, 아프리카 대륙에서 발생하는 변화의 변수들이 오히려 글로컬한 방식으로 글로벌 사회에서 동반자역할을 감당하게 할 수 있다. 때로는 북반구 지원의 ODA(Official Development Assistance)보다 아프리카가 가진 무형의 자원이 사회변혁의 원동력이 된다는 것을 우리는 역사를 통해 배우고 있다. AICs는 생태적으로 가차차(Gacaca)나 우분뚜(ubuntu)와 같은 아프리카가 가진 영성, 세계관, 사회철학과 같은 무형의 자원을 사용하여 지역공동체의 문제를 해결할 줄 안다는 강점을 가지고 있다. AICs의 영향력 아래에서 건강한 지역공동체 형성은 결국 ‘악순환의고리’의 문제를 해결하는 글로컬한 국면에서 북반구에도 긍정적인영향을 미칠 것이다. 이러한 의미에서 본고에서는 아프리카와 아프리카 교회를 더 이상 수혜자의 지위가 아닌 글로벌 이슈들을 함께풀어가야 하는 주요한 동반자로서 역할에 더 무게를 두고자 한다.

영어초록

Elements of Africa’s crisis could have negative effects aro- und the world. The ‘vicious cycle’ of Africa’s ‘climate chan- ge-famine-conflict-refugee outbreak inflow into Europe-re gional decline’ is already causing numerous African diaspo ras to migrate to the Northern Hemisphere. The self-identi ty of Africans settling in the Northern Hemisphere, especially Christians, is already having a positive or negative impact on the Northern Hemisphere church and society, and it is clear that this will further deepen in the future. African churches are growing the fastest on earth, reaching nearly 40% of all Chris tians by 2060. In particular, AIC(Africa Independence Church) represents African churches, and its social influence is gradually growing. This is where the role of AIC becomes important on the African continent. However, on this continent, AIC not only faces external difficulties that are closely related to the survival of their local communities, a ‘vicious cycle’, but also internally faces problems of leadership, problems of as many as 10,000 sects, excessive regional theologizing and syncretism. Nevertheless, AIC’s social influence is closely related to the ho listic development of Africa as a whole. In this sense, the global world expects AIC to play a public role in the fragmented Af rican society. In this era where the global issues facing Africa are globally connected, AIC must shoulder the common burden not only for African society but also for global society. Can AIC play a role in solving the numerous problems facing Africa with its newly established self-identity (neo-Christianity) that has overcome the pain of the colonial era? Internally, along with true forgiveness for Western colo nialism, AIC must look back on its own theology and have a theological identity that can communicate with global theolo gy without being excessively obsessed with local theology. AIC has an identity as a church that exists ecologically within the local community. If AIC’s identity goes beyond its current du ties of healing individual pain and meeting daily needs and positively impacts global issues such as conflict and refugees, the variables of change occurring on the African continent can make them as partners in a global society in a local way. We have learned through history that sometimes the intangible resources of the subject, rather than Western-supported ODA, become the driving force for social change. AIC already has the strength of knowing how to solve problems in local communi ties by using intangible resources such as ecological spiritual ity, worldview, and social philosophy of Africa such as Gacaca and Ubuntu. The formation of a healthy regional community under the influence of AIC will ultimately play a positive role in the Northern Hemisphere in the global context of resolving the problem of the ‘vicious cycle’. In this sense, this paper seeks to place greater emphasis on the role of Africa and African churches as major partners who must work together to solve global issues, rather than the status of beneficiaries.
