小加耶樣式 土器의 編年 硏究 (A chronological study on the So-Gaya style pottery)

초록

본고는 기존의 소가야양식 토기 편년 연구의 문제점들을 보완하기 위해 우선 토기 자료를 집성하여, 각기종별로 세밀한 속성 및 형식 분류를 행하였다. 기왕의 연구와 같이 시간성 파악만을 염두에 둔 것이 아니라 공간성도 고려하였기에 시·공간성을 반영한 다양한 범주의 것이 개별 형식으로 설정되었다. 각 기종의 형식 조합을 토대로 발생순서배열법에 따라 단계를 설정하였다. 이러한 단계 설정은 기종의 생성과 소멸에 주목하였고, 다음으로 형식의 생성과 소멸을 기준으로 삼아 진행하였다. 그 결과 5단계의 시기구분을 도출하였다.
Ⅰ단계는 고식도질토기단계의 함안양식 토기로부터 분화·발전하여 형식 변화한 것으로 판단되는 古단계와 여러 기종이 새롭게 등장함으로써 소가야양식이 출현하기 시작한 新단계로 나뉜다. Ⅱ단계는 소가야양식의 성립이 완성되는 단계로서, 역시 古·新단계로 구분된다. 古단계는 통형기대·이단교호투창고배·개배를 제외한 全 기종이 성립·발전한다. 新단계가 되면 이단교호투창고배가 출현하며, 유개식 삼각투창고배와 유개식 일단장방형투창고배, 대부직구호 등의 몇몇 기종에서 전형적인 형식이 확인된다. Ⅲ단계에는 통형기대가 등장하며, 무개식 삼각투창고배는 최말기 형식인 Ⅵ식이 출현한다. 또한이단교호투창고배 및 통형기대를 제외한 모든 기종의 토기 출토량도 상당하며, 전형적인 형태를 갖춘다.
Ⅳ단계에는 수평구연발형기대가 급감하며, 이와 동시에 새로운 형태의 발형기대가 출현하고 蓋杯도 등장한다. 이단교호투창고배는 출토량이 급격히 늘어나며 성행하기 시작한다. 반면 삼각투창고배는 쇠퇴·소멸기를 맞이한다. 수평구연발형기대와 호의 구연부는 완전한 수평면을 가지며, 대부직구호는 대각이 2단에서 1단 구성으로 변한다. 무개식 장방형투창(파수부)고배는 파수가 탈락되기 시작한다. 이처럼 Ⅳ단계가 되면 토기의 기종도 이전 단계들과는 달리 새롭게 출현하거나 소멸하는 것들이 많아져 양식 자체에 변화가 생기며, 각 기종별 형식 내에서도 큰 변화들이 간취된다. Ⅴ단계에는 全 기종에서 最後의 형식이 확인되며, 전체적으로 이 단계의 토기 형식은 소형화되는 경향을 보인다.
이들 각 단계는 기존의 편년안과 스에키 및 대가야·아라가야·신라 등 주변 지역과의 교차편년을 중심으로 관련 문헌사료 및 공반된 마구 자료에 근거하여, Ⅰ기(5세기 2/4분기)~Ⅴ기(6세기 2/4분기~3/4분기 전반)까지의 연대를 부여하였다. 6세기 1/4분기(Ⅳ단계)가 되면 토기의 형식 및 기종 구성 등에서상당한 변화가 간취되어, 이 시기는 劃期로 想定된다. 소가야는 562년 전후로 토기의 변화가 둔감해지고, 쇠퇴의 길을 맞이하게 된다.

영어초록

In this paper, as collecting whole pottery datum, detail attribution analysis and the type classification was done by forms to solve the problems of the chronological study of the So-Gaya style pottery. As considering spatial characteristics as well as chronological characteristics, each type reflecting chronological and spatial characteristics was set up. The phase was divided into five-Ⅰ~Ⅴ-by the occurrence seriation based on the type combination. The appearance and the extinction of forms and types as standard is noticed in the phase set.
The first phase is divided into two phases: the old phase that the pottery separated from the Haman style of the old-type Dojil pottery and the new phase that the pottery of So-Gaya appears with new forms.
The So-Gaya style pottery is completed in the second phase. It is also divided into two phases.
All forms are appeared in the old phase except a cylinder-shaped pottery stand, a mounted-dish with cross opening, a flat cup with a cover. In the new phase, a mounted-dish with cross opening appears, and the a mounted-dish with triangular opening and rectangular opening with a cover,a mounted jar with straight neck is also checked.
In the third phase, a cylinder-shaped pottery stand and the last type-Ⅵ type- of the a mounteddish with triangular opening with no cover appears. All forms except a mounted-dish with cross opening and a cylinder-shaped pottery stand are checked abundantly, and take archetypal form.
In the fourth phase, the pottery stand with horizontal plane lip decreases and new shaped pottery stand and a flat cup with a cover appears. While a mounted-dish with cross opening increases,a mounted-dish with triangular opening declines. A lip of the pottery stand and a jar shows perfect horizontal line. A mounted part of a mounted jar changes from a double layer to a single layer. A grip of a mounted-dish with rectangular opening with no cover disappears as well. In this phase, the style of So-Gaya pottery changes that a form of pottery appears or disappears.
In the fifth phase, the last type of each form in all potteries is checked and most type tends to be small.
Each phase belongs each quarter from the second quarter of the 5th century(Ⅰphase) to the first quarter of the six century (Ⅳphase) and the Ⅴphase belongs from the second quarter to the first half of the third quarter of the 6th century based on the existing chronological idea, the cross dating of pottery with Sueki, Dae-Gaya, Ara-Gaya and Silla, the literature and the harnessry.
In the first quarter of the 6th century(Ⅳphase), as the type and combination of the pottery changes, it can be seen as an epoch-making phase of the So-Gaya pottery culture. In about A.D 562, the change of the So-Gaya style pottery is getting slower and begins to collapse.
