초록

本研究の目的は、アジア太平洋戦争中、米国と日本の最大の激戦地であったフィリピンを背景にした戦後韓国と日本の戦争小説を比較分析することによって、第3国で体験したアジア太平洋戦争の意味を再照明することである。具体的な硏究対象は、1940年代初、フィリピンでの戦争に参加した共通の体験を持っている大岡昇平と李丙求が1945~1960年に発表した戦争小説である。大岡昇平と李丙求において共通の戦争経験地で作品の背景になっているのは、祖国ではなく、第3国のフィリピンである。この点から、両作家のアジア太平洋戦争を比較分析するにあたって、戦争の直接的な主体ではないけれども、最も熾烈な戦場になった「フィリピン」という空間的な背景が持つ意味を見逃すことはできない。それで、本研究では、第3国で体験したアジア太平洋戦争であるという点に注目して、戦後韓日文学者の戦争小説を比較研究した。作品の中で、敗兵となった主人公によって南方の風景とそこの原住民たちがどのように描かれているかを考察してみた。大岡の場合自然描写に、李丙求は人物描写に、主人公の心理的な状況が投影される傾向がある。そのような心理的投影を通じて、主人公は、集団から脱して個人としての自分自身を自覚する。これは、戦争の主導者あるいは加担者である自国の矛盾および作品発表当時の現実-米占領期の日本と理念対立期の韓国-に対する認識に繋がっている。

영어초록

This paper aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the war novels of Koreaand Japan written in the post-war years and set in the Philippines, the battlegroundof the most violent battles fought between the United States and Japan, and therebyshed new light on the meaning of the Asia Pacific War as experienced in a thirdcountry. More specifically, it explores the war novels published during 1945-1960by Ooka Shohei and Byung-gu Lee, authors who have had the common experienceof fighting in the war in the Philippines in the early 1940's.
The setting of the novels of these two authors, which is also the place wherethey both actually experienced war in their lives, is not their native state but rathera third country, the Philippines. This is why in comparatively analyzing the AsiaPacific war novels of these authors, the implications associated with this spatialsetting cannot be overlooked, with the Philippines having been the fiercest battlefieldwhile it was never ever directly involved in the war. Therefore, this study focuseson the fact that the novels address the Asia Pacific war as experienced in a thirdcountry in comparing the post-war works of a Korean writer and a Japanese writer.
this study looked into how the natural environment and native population of thePhilippines were depicted by the main characters of the novels who were survivingbut defeated soldiers. The psychological state of the protagonists tended to beprojected in the description of nature in Ooka's novel and in the characterizationof people in Lee's novel. Through such psychological projections, the protagonistsdetach themselves from the collective identity and perceive themselves as anindividual.
