攝山系 三論師의 定慧雙修說과 天台師의 敎觀兼修說 比較 (A Comparative Study of Samron master's Jeonghye Ssangsu theory(定慧雙修說) and T'ientai master's Gyogwangyeomsu theory (敎觀兼修說))

초록

위진남북조 불교사에서 삼론사들이 주장한 정혜쌍수설과 천태사들이 주장한 교관겸수설의 사상적 특징과 동이점, 두 계열의 상호교류 등에 고찰해 보았다. 이들은 정혜사상의 유사성뿐만 아니라 사상적 출발점 역시 연관되어 있다는 점을 알 수 있다. 그리고 천태계 교관겸수설의 근원은 삼론사들의 정혜쌍수설에서 찾을 수 있으며, 그 가능성을 부인하기 힘들다. 특히 삼론사들의 정혜쌍수설은 그 출발점이 승랑이라는 점에 주목할 필요가있다. 길장의 주장이 틀리지 않았다면 삼론에 입각해 정혜일치론의 사상적체계를 확립한 것이 승랑이기 때문이다.
두 사상은 지역적, 시대적, 사상적으로 중첩되는 요소가 매우 많다. 그런 점은 두 사상의 유사성을 창출했다고 말할 수 있다. 그러나 천태와 같은 걸출한 종교적 천재는 삼론사들의 정혜쌍수설을 비롯해 당시 영향을미치고 있었던 교의학과 선학(禪學)을 보다 광범위하게 포용해 통일시키고있다.
또한 삼론사들의 사상적 근간이 삼론, 내지 반야경전과『대지도론』이었다면 천태계는『 법화경』을 중심으로 모든 교판을 망라하고, 실천적인 선학체계을 구축하고자 했다. 정혜의 일치는 천태에게 ‘교의학과 선학의 통일’이라는 통일철학을 완성하게 만들었으며, 그것이 교관겸수설이다. 결국 삼론사들의 정혜쌍수설이 출발점이자 기폭제였다면, 교관겸수설은 도착점이자 완성태라 말할 수 있다. 그러나 어느 사상이든 사회적, 문화적 배경을도외시할 수 없다는 점에서 천태의 통일철학은 정혜쌍수설이 발전해 완성된 것이라 말할 수 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the feature, similarity and difference of their thought between Jeonghye Ssangsu theory(the theory of simultaneous cultivation of Samadhi and Prajna) and Gyogwangyeomsu theory(the theory of harmonious cultivation of Zen and Doctrine) and their inter-exchange in the Buddhist history of Weijinnanbeichao Period. The two theory is an important theory that Samron masters and T'ientai masters asserted respectively. They have a inter deep relation both in the similarity of Jeonghye(samadhi and prajna) thought and in their thought background. Then,T'ientai's Gyogwangyeomsu theory derives from Jeonghye Ssangsu theory of Samron masters. In particular, Seungrang founded Samron master's Jeonghye Ssangsu theory. If Jizang's assertion is relevant,then it is certain that Seungrang established the thought system of "Jeonghye is One", based on Samron.
Actually, these two thought systems have many overlapped factors in region, period, and thought, so which forms the source of similarity between these two thoughts. However, an eminent relgious master such as T'ientai embraced both doctrine and zen schools widely and then unified them including Jeonghye Ssangsu theory.
While the roots of Samron masters' thought were Samron or Heart Sutra and Treatise on the Great Perfection of Wisdom,T'ientai masters tried to cover all Gyopan(doctrine school) and to set up a practical zen system chiefly on the Lotus Sutra.
The thought of "Jeonghye is One" made T'ientai complete unification philosophy, 'the unification of doctrine tenet and zen tenet,' which is the marrow of Gyogwangyeomsu theory. In brief, if Samron masters' Jeonghye Ssangsu theory were a starting and triggering point, then Gyogwangyeomsu theory would be a arriving point and a completed stage as well. However, in that any thought cannot ignore a social and cultural background, the unification philosophy of T'ientai can be referred as the completion of Jeonghye Ssangsu theory.
