초록

본 연구는 여말선초부터 20세기까지 지속된 한국역학자들의 天澤履卦 괘사 해석을 살핀 것이다.
權近은 『주역천견록』에서 괘마다 논란이 되는 괘효사를 摘示하였다. 특히 그의 역해석은 朱子로부터 元代 吳澄의 象數易學的 전통을 기반으로 한다.
이세응은 조선전기의 역학자로 권근이 中正과 比應을 중심으로 역해석을 시도했다면 그는 의리역학적 해석을 통해 64괘의 괘의 차례를 설명하였다.
조호익은 大體, 伏體, 反體 등의 역해석 틀을 사용한 이로 권근이나 이세응, 퇴계 이황 등의 역해석 방법론 보다 진일보 한 것으로 평가된다.
강석경은 18·19세기 역해석학자로 천택리괘의 卦名과 卦辭가 연이어져 있는 卦임을 지적하였다. 그는 程子와 朱子의 해석을 바탕으로 하면서 履卦의 괘명과 경문이 연이어 진 것은 “경문이 간결하기 때문이다”고 해석하였다.
심대윤은 조호익과 같이 卦象의 의미를 중심으로 互卦와 大體를 역해석 틀로 사용하였다.
오치기는 ‘다리를 밟는 상’(☳)을 해석하기 위해 履卦의 음양이 바뀐 謙卦를 끌어들이고, 겸괘의 호괘에서 震卦(☳)를 찾아내었다.
20세기 이후 첫 『주역』 번역서는 남만성에 의해 출간되었는데, 그 역시 전통적 역해석 방법을 고수하고, 나아가 履卦의 卦體인 乾卦와 兌卦를 물리적 존재로 규정하여 반드시 이상적인 길함이 아니라고 하였다. 1980년대 김경탁 교수는 履卦를 氣의 움직임으로 해석하였고, 1990년대 김석진은 주자의 『본의』를 바탕으로 하면서 『정전』의 해석도 수용하고 있다.
여말선초부터 현재까지 총 9명의 리괘의 괘사에 대한 해석을 살펴본 결과 『주역』의 획일적 해석이 불가능 한 것임을 새삼 깨달을 수 있었다. 따라서 한국의 역해석사는 『정전』과 『본의』를 바탕으로 이루어져 왔다는 사실과 姜碩慶과 같은 독자적 해석도 포함하고 있다.

영어초록

This study will focus on the interpretations of Korean fortune-tellers of the bagua of 天澤履卦(Cheontaekrigwae) from late Goryeo and early Joseon to the 20th century.
In Juyeokcheongyeonrok, Kwon Geun clarified the meanings of each of the bagua that were disputed. In particular, his interpretations of the bagua are based on the Sangsuyeokhakjeok tradition passed down from Zhu Xi to Wu Cheng of the Yuan dynasty.
Yi Se-ung was a fortune-teller of the early Josen era. While Kwon geun focused on jungjeong and bieung in his interpretations, emphasizing the ritualistic aspects of the practice, Yi Se-ung took aneuiriyeokhak approach as he explained the 64 hexagrams, focusing on the philosophical aspectsEver since Cho Ho-ik began employing the framework of 大體(Daechae), 伏體(Bokchae), and 反體(Beonchae), the interpretation methodologies have evolved since Kwon Geun, Yi Se-ung, and Toegye Yi Hwang.
Kang Seok-gyeong was a fortune-teller who lived during the 18th and 19th centuries. He pointed out that the meanings and the names of the trigrams of cheontaekrigwae are interlinked. He based his interpretations on that of Cheng Xi and Zhu Xi, claiming that the reason why the names and scriptural interpretations of the lugua are interlinked is because the “scriptural interpretations are simple”. Shim Dae-yun, like Cho Ho-ik focused on the meanings of the trigrams, using hogwae and daechae as his framework for interpretation.
Oh Chi-gi, in his attempt to interpret Zhen (☳), looked to Qian, a yin-yang reversal of lugua, and found the meaning of Zhen in the 互卦(hogwae) of Qian.
The first translation of Juyeok in the 20th century was published by Nam Man-seong. He maintained the traditional methods of interpretation, and furthermore defined Qian and Dui, which are sugwae of the lugua, as physical entities that are not necessarily portents of good fortune. In the 1980s Professor Kim Gyeong-tak defined lugua as movements of chi, and in the 1990s Kim Seok-jinbased his work on Zhu Xi’s Bon-eui, while also adopting the interpretations of the Jeong-jeon.
From late Goryeo and early Joseon to the present day, an examination of the interpretations of nine scholars on the subject shows that Juyeok itself remains immune to indisputable interpretation. Therefore the history of Korean interpretation of Juyeok is based on Jeong-jeon and Bon-eui, along with the personal interpretations of Kang Seok-gyeong.
