외국인 유학생의 한국적응과 진로선택에 대한 경험사례-베트남 유학생을 중심으로 (Case Study on Foreign Students' Adaptation to Korea and Career Choice)

초록

본 연구는 베트남 유학생을 대상으로 유학동기, 적응과정, 진로선택에 대해 심층적인 분석을 하고자 한다. 연구방법은 질적사례 연구로 대학교 1학년 유학생 8명을 연구참여자로 선정하여 설문과 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 심층 면담은 2024년 10월 7일부터 2024년 11월 8일까지 약 1개월 동안 진행하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 유학동기에는 한국문화의 관심, 주변인의 권유, 취업목적으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 적응과정에서 학습적응과 문화적응으로분류되었고 학습적응은 학습진도, 교우관계, 교수관계로 분류되었다. 문화적응은 기본생활, 학교활동참여, 인상깊은 문화로 분류되었다. 셋째 진로선택은 졸업 후 계획, 취업정보경로로 분석되었다. 결과적으로 베트남 유학생들은 한국에 체류하며 생활하는 동안 학업과 일의 경험을 통해 한국사회와 한국문화에 대한 이해가 확립되는데 학교생활뿐만 아니라 아르바이트, 일 경험 등을 통해 한국의 위계적인 문화에 접하게 되고, 이러한 경험이 향후 진로선택에 영향을 주고 있다. 따라서 각 지자체와 협업하면 지역맞춤형 일자리 창출 사업들을 통해유학생들에게 적합한 일자리를 제공하고 이탈율을 방지 할 수 있는 계기가 될 것이다. 또한 학생현장실습학기제를 도입하여 학교와 현장실습기관 간의 산학협력 관계를 기반으로 학교 밖으로 연장된 경험학습을 진행함으로써 외국인 유학생들의 한국적응과 진로선택에 중요한 작용을 할 것으로 분석되어진다.

영어초록

This study aims to examine the motivations for studying abroad and the adaptation process of Vietnamese students studying abroad and to find out what influence they have on their career choices. Eight first-year university students studying abroad were selected as research participants using a qualitative case study method. The results of the study are as follows. First, the motivations for studying abroad were analyzed as interest in Korean culture, recommendations from people around them, and employment purposes. Second, the adaptation process was analyzed as learning adaptation and cultural adaptation, and learning adaptation was divided into learning progress, relationships with friends, and relationships with professors. Third, cultural adaptation in the adaptation process was classified into basic living, participation in school activities, and impressive culture. Fourth, career choices were analyzed as plans after graduation and employment information paths. In conclusion, Vietnamese students studying abroad established an understanding of Korean society through their academic and work experiences while living in Korea. Vietnamese students were exposed to Korea’s hierarchical culture not only through school life but also through work experiences such as part-time jobs, and these experiences influenced their future career choices. In conclusion, they showed that they were diligent in self-development while overcoming the difficulties of studying abroad. Above all, various programs should be increased at the school level to actively increase opportunities for communication between Korean students and international students. A campus culture should be enriched to help international students, especially Vietnamese students, adapt to university life. In addition, Korean students lack awareness of Vietnam and Vietnamese students, and they also have many stereotypes and prejudices. Korean university education needs to keep up with the times and introduce students to the environment and culture of other countries, and classes on immigration and multicultural awareness should be increased.
